According to experts Dr. Stryker Calvez and Dr. Rose Roberts of the University of Saskatchewan, overall land acknowledgements are still a positive goal to strive towards if executed correctly. In their workshop they gave some useful tips for people crafting their own land acknowledgements, so we can avoid the surface-level nature of some acknowledgements which have been criticized. #landacknowledgements #landback #landdefenders #stolenland #landbacklane #landdefence #honourIndigenousland #solidarity #Indigenousrights #Indigenousrising #Indigenousknowledge #Indigenouslivesmatter #Indigenousresistance #Indigenoussovereignty #historicalviolence #truehistory #turtleisland

Recently, land acknowledgements are attracting controversy as they’ve been accused of being an easy ‘out’ for people to do their due diligence rather than a commitment to justice. Some have questioned whether we should do them at all. #landacknowledgements #landback #landdefenders #stolenland #landbacklane #landdefence #honourIndigenousland #solidarity #Indigenousrights #Indigenousrising #Indigenousknowledge #Indigenouslivesmatter #Indigenousresistance #Indigenoussovereignty #historicalviolence #truehistory #turtleisland
