Freedonia Grant 15.04.2021

Freedonia's submission period for 2018 is now officially open! For the 2018 Funding Round, we continue to encourage applications for anti-authoritarian projects that are focused on grassroots, face-to-face participation in social, political, and economic activism through organizing, training, and relationship-building. We want to hear from those who are fighting where they stand going door-to-door, holding public meetings, and bringing people together to discuss, plan, orga...nize, and learn. In line with this spirit, we are interested in projects that are rooted in local struggles and geared towards building and/or strengthening communities of resistance. We prioritize the funding of projects that are less likely to receive support elsewhere, and favour group over individual projects. We are less inclined to fund projects with large budgets and are likewise, less inclined to fund applications requesting staff salary pay. While we are hesitant to provide funding related to people’s salaries, we are happy to provide funding for projects that offer honorarium to unemployed, underemployed, and/or otherwise marginalized members. Looking ahead to the upcoming year, we are most excited to hear about projects that are engaged in work related to anti-colonialism, indigenous solidarity, environmental justice, anti-racism, anti-fascism, gender liberation, and the sharing of intergenerational knowledge. Our funding theme is always one of the criteria we use to rate applications. For a quick outline of all the criteria we use to rate applications, please click here. We also urge all applicants to read through Freedonia’s mission statement and application guidelines to assess your project’s compatibility with ours. If your project isn’t an exact fit with our current theme, but you believe it’s something Freedonia would be interested in funding based on our mission statement, we do encourage you to consider applying all the same. We’re looking forward to receiving your applications! http://freedonia.ca/application/howto
