An article about my husbands uncle who sadly passed away last night at the Maples Personal Care Home. So sad to see so many people loosing their lives over this crazy virus. Stay safe everyone. Social distance and stay home unless necessary.

The Christmas Cheer board announced today that they will not be doing hampers this year. Now more then ever this is needed. I announced last month about doing hampers for families (this was not with the Christmas cheer board), and we were going to do collections for specific families. Now instead of doing people given info for a specific family we are going to do a mass collection then separate it all out to give to as many families as possible. We will be collecting anything... and everything such as food, personal hygiene items, toiletries and clothes and toys for all ages . If you would like to donate drop off is in Transcona. If there are other places willing to take donations I can pickup, I just can't be driving all over the city to individual homes. We can also take monetary donations, then we will be doing a big shop closer to Christmas. If any of my clients want to make a donation, my staff can pickup during the next clean :) I know times are tough for many people right now, but ANY donation is appreciated; a can of food, even a couple dollars would help out a great deal. With the announcement that the province is moving into the red zone (critical) and more places are forced to close, I have been receiving many messages and calls about what that means for us and if we are still allowed to operate. The answer is YES. We are an essential service and will remain open as long as we have the clients to stay open. I know that during these unknown and scary times, many either don't feel comfortable having others in their home and want to reduce the ...risk of exposure, or maybe need to hold off on services as someone in the household has temporarily lost their job. It's ok. We completely understand. We want to make sure all our clients are safe and feel comfortable. I also want my clients to know that we will do whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable and we are doing all we can to make sure our time in your home is a safe one. The steps we are all taking include ; - Washing our hands when we enter your home and before we leave. ~ Wearing masks at all times when we are in a home or workplace. And if you would like us to wear gloves we can do that as well. All my staff always have some in their kit. ~ Social distancing while in the home, both with the client and each other ~ disinfecting high contact areas such as light switches and door knobs. ~ My employees are no longer car pooling to jobs unless necessary. In that case masks are also worn in the vehicle. ~ NO ONE goes to work if they are feeling ill. Even if it's just the sniffles. ~ If anyone (clients and staff) were in contact with someone who is symptomatic (whether they are positive or not), they are also required to stay home. ~ If any clients are ill they are to cancel, or if we notice they are ill we leave immediately. Because of these things that we are implementing, we ask that our clients are, and continue to be understanding when there are changes or cancellations of your cleans. We are doing our best to keep everyone safe and to help stop the spread of this nasty virus. And because no one is able to work if they have any symptoms, this may mean they are off work for day to possibly weeks, leaving us short staffed. I've also had clients asking if during this time we can use "real chemicals"? We are typically a Norwex company, and I feel that they do a great job in regards to the virus. However if anyone would prefer that we use something else for their own piece of mind, please let me know before your clean so I can insure my staff have the proper rags and chemicals to do the job. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

Just a reminder to all clients, if you are sick at all, whether it be cold/flu symptoms, strep or any other illness that can be passed along to others please cancel your clean. We CANNOT get sick, no matter how little the symptoms as we have to shut down out of precaution. This not only effects your clean but also the rest of my clients. Effective immediately, we can no longer except donations until we are no longer in code red. The places I take donations to are restricting the items they are taking or they are no longer taking any. However, if you are still wanting to use our decluttering services we can still declutter your area or home, then we can store away the unwanted items in an area of your home such as garage or shed. Once places begin to take donations again, we can pickup your items and drop them off for you.

I know its a bit early to start thinking about Christmas but now is when I start to do some shopping :) This year I am putting together food and toy hampers for families in need. I plan on making as many as I can. I will be putting 1 or 2 together with my family and will be taking donations to put together more. With everything that is happening right now it will be really hard on families this year. Many places that normally do collections such as churches wont really be ab...le to do that this year since many or all arent open at this time. I will be getting a list of families from a local organization who deals with families in need. They will give me info such as how many children, clothing and shoe sizes, allergies etc. If you would like to help out.. here is how: ** Donate 1 or more items. It can be anything that is NEW.. either toys, food, clothing, personal hygiene, handmade items etc. Drop off will be in Transcona. ** If you would like to out together your own hamper for a family let me know and I can get you the information. ** Make a monetary donation. ALL money donated will go towards a hamper. I will take a collection and closer to when we will be putting the hampers together I will purchase items to fill in the empty gaps of the hampers.. Odd and ends to finish it off. I plan to give every child a stocking to go along with their other gifts. So if you have some smaller things to donate that would be great as well.. Some small things from the dollar-store are a perfect idea. I will be posting pictures along the way of donations I have received, putting the hampers together etc, so you can see all the wonderful things and ways people are helping out. I will be collecting from now until December 4th. Drop off is in Transcona. If you are a client we can pickup when we do your clean. Just leave a note that says its for the hampers. **If you are a local company that is willing to be a drop off center for donations please PM me. Happy First Day of School! It was definitely mixed feelings of being proud and scared at the same time this morning. The kids were excited though which made it a bit easier. Thank you to all the teachers, EAs, and school staff for everything you have done to prepare for today. I can only imagine the long hours, sleepless nights and crazy amounts of stress. Know that as parents we too are scared but we know that you will keep our kids safe and that you are doing your very be...st everyday. Thank you!! Save the Earth Saturdays Every Saturday (or Sunday if I forget..lol), I will be posting something that relates to saving this amazing planet. Global warming is a real thing that impacts us daily. We need to do what we can to help. As a company we use natural cleaning chemicals, reuse and recycle plastic bags, use compostable bags, take unwanted items to local charitable organizations to be handed out to the less fortunate which puts less items into the landfill, we car...pool, and more. In my personal life we do what we can as well. This weekend for the first time ever we went to a farmers market. Ive been wanting to go for so long. Shopping local is so important. Not only are you getting the freshest produce, and helping out members of the community and their families but it is also better for the environment. Reducing fossil fules, less use of pesticides and less environmental waste. Im so excited about all the things we purchased. We used our reusable shopping bag and produced bags :). We bought a variety of vegetables that Ive never tried before as well as got some bees wax wraps. Got done one of my weekly goals. Clean and organize the laundry room . I know there is still laundry to do... its just never ending.

I know sometimes its hard to get motivated. And im not just saying that.... I actually know. I suffer from depression and anxiety so motivation is something I struggle with all the time. Work keeps me on track but once I get home Im lost. So lets help out eachother. Lets keep eachother motivated and on task. Each week I am going to start an accountability post where you can share your goals for the week. Saying it out loud, or making it public helps to keep you motivated ...at keeping that goal. It makes you accountable for getting it done. It can be one task/goal or many. Then share your progress. Take pictures, make a post... Whatever you like. Post your goals here! - My goal(s) for the week are to organize my laundry room. It has gotten out of control with all my cleaning stuff, clothes etc. Another goal is to get my desk organized. Spent today working with a lovely teenage girl decluttering and organizing her room. She was so happy when we werr finished. Saying she never remembered a time when it was so organized. Not only do I work with adults to declutter and organize I also work with teens and kids. I feel its important to involve kids in decluttering as much as possible. It helps to teach them the value in decluttering, the rewarding feeling of getting rid of things and a sense of pride in accompl...ishing the task. It is something that they will be able to use and carry into adulthood. I work with my kids on an ongoing basis to go through their clothes and toys. My daughter will often come to me with toys she doesnt play with now and tells me to give it to the kids that dont have anything. An important reminder to everyone with a vehicle.... ALWAYS get your tires re-torqued after 50-100km. My husband just got his winter tires changed right before we went camping. We had taken the insurance off because of covid and needed the truck so got it insured again and the tires done. He had to come back a day earlier then me and the kids as he had to work. We hadnt driven it the 100km yet (or even close to that) so thought nothing of re-torquing (honestly I have never ...ever done it before). So as he was driving home he was just starting to go down a long hill when he felt the back of the truck drop and seen his tire rolling down the hill passing him. Thankfully he was ok and that no one was coming the opposite direction because things could of turned out way worse. Once back in the city we had to deal with the shop that did the work, calls to MPI and so on. Everything is all fixed now and we can move past this. But we will never make this mistake ever again.... ALWAYS GO BACK AND RE-TORQUE. It only takes a couple of minutes and can save your life and the lives of others.
