Netflix and Intel Earnings Releases and The ECB Main Refinancing Rate Netflix is going to be the talk of the day among investors, as they would like to know if Netflix can continue to grow its subscriber base. There is no doubt that the golden period is over for Netflix and competition has become increasingly fierce in the streaming front. The European Central Bank is likely to keep its monetary policy unchanged, as there are several challenges that the eurozone is still fa...cing. Issues concerning coronavirus vaccination are likely to prolong the recovery in the Eurozone, and this means that the ECB will need to keep the liquidity taps running for a while. The EUR/USD pair may be one of the most intriguing pairs to keep an eye on. Intel’s competitors have pushed it into a corner, and its core clients such as Apple have started to develop their own processors. This means that Intel will need to work twice as hard to convince investors why they should be investing in their stocks. Trade The News

Chinese Industrial Production YoY, FOMC Statement and UKs Official Bank Rate The Chinese economy is recovering from the impact of coronavirus. The recent Chinese Caixin manufacturing data has shown that the country's manufacturing activity might be moving in the correct direction, and the hope is to have an echo of this message in the Chinese Industrial YoY data as well. The U.S. unemployment rate has fallen to a single-digit territory, which is remarkable given that this ...number used to be above 13% not too long ago. The question is that if the Fed is going to take that as a positive sign? And, if it does, what does that mean in terms of their monetary policy. The market participants aren't expecting any hawkish tone from the Fed, and if there is any hawkish tone, it is likely to take the market by a huge surprise. Andrew Bailey, the governor of Bank of England, needs to convince the markets that he has a plan for a no-deal Brexit. This is because the prime minister, Boris Johnson, is threatening to leave the E.U. without any deal if he doesn't get things his way. Leaving the E.U. will leave some serious scars, and there is very little that the Bank of England can do given the fact that the interest rates are already at a record low.

China Trade Balance, UKs Industrial and Manufacturing Production YoY and The ECB Monetary Policy Statement The U.S.-China relations have improved, both countries are pleased with the progress review of the Phase Trade deal. The upcoming Chinese trade balance is expected to show more import and less export. The U.K. government is ending the furlough scheme in less than two months while the recovery is still immensely fragile. Without any government support, traders believe... that the industrial and manufacturing numbers are likely to become worse. The ECB's is closely monitoring the Eurozone's economic performance, and things appear to be moving in the right direction. However, it is in the recent spike in Coronavirus cases that could bring more trouble.

Chinese Caixin Manufacturing PMI, German Unemployment Change and the U.S. NFP Data The U.S.-China relations seem to be improving as the review of the Phase One Trade deal was a success. Both sides have been optimistic, which likely means that lessening geopolitical tensions have had less of an adverse influence on the Chinese Caixin manufacturing PMI number. The forecast for the upcoming number is 51.3, which could confirm expansion. The German government has supported the... German unemployment rate. The improvement in economic activity is likely to be reflected in the German unemployment rate. The forecast for the German unemployment change is for 43K, which could be much more durable and a better number as compared to the previous reading of -18K. The U.S. NFP data has confirmed so far that the condition of the U.S. labour market is improving. Investors are hoping for further improvement, and want to see a further drop in the unemployment rate. The forecast for the U.S. Non-Farm Payroll is of 1.5 million against the previous reading of 1.76 million.

Aussie Private Capital Expenditure, U.S. prelim GDP q/q/ and The German GFK Consumer Climate The Aussie private capital expenditure is likely to remain subdued as investors are concerned about the emergence of the second Coronavirus wave. However, a small improvement in the upcoming number may help the Aussie score more against the dollar. All eyes are on the US GDP number, and investors are hoping to see significant improvement in the US GDP. If the data fails to impress t...he markets, the Fed may face more pressure as Congress didn't deliver the second stimulus package on time. The German economy has seen tremendous recovery, but the path to recovery is still long. The hope is that we will have an echo of German ZEW data in the upcoming German Consumer confidence. Any improvement in consumer confidence may help the Euro to score more gains against the dollar.

FOMC Meeting Minutes, UKs Retail Sales Data and the German Flash Manufacturing Data The Fed's primary mandate is to strengthen the U.S. jobs market, and recent data shows that unemployment stands at 10.5%. The unemployment rate has been declining for the past few months, but the question is whether the Fed will wait for more readings before it changes its stance on the monetary policy. U.K. has seen the worst GDP plunge in its history, but traders were expecting the number ...to be this bad. What the market expects is a sharp acceleration in the GDP number in the coming months, and if we do not see that, it will be clear that the U.K.'s economy is in trouble, which means the BOE will need to do more. Coronavirus numbers have started to incline again in Germany, but the German economy is expected to produce some solid manufacturing PMI number. The previous reading was 51, and the question is how much more improvement can we see at this time.

UKs Prelim GDP q/q, Aussie Unemployment Rate and US Retail Sales m/m The Bank of England will be paying close attention to the UKs GDP data, and any dramatic reading is likely to trigger an action from the bank. It is important to keep in mind that there is very little room left for the bank to play with interest rates before they fall in negative territory. The RBAs primary mandate is to bring the unemployment rate, which is spiralling due to COVID-19. In the past few w...eeks, we have seen coronavirus cases surging again, which made the government re-introduce the regional lockdowns. These lockdowns may result in a higher unemployment rate, which could increase the headache for the RBA. The Federal Reserve is aware that the US economy is stalling, and the US retail sales data is also likely to confirm the same message. The question is what else the policymakers can do because the Fed had already increased its asset purchase programme, and Washington has done its job with respect to its stimulus packages. Is the vaccine the only solution?

BOE Official Policy Rate, US NFP Data and Uber Earnings Releases The Bank of England may surprise the markets and offer additional support. The biggest fear is that the UKs labour market can start looking a lot more different than what it is now as the government has started to scale back from its furlough support. The Federal Reserve is under pressure to do more as the economy has started to stall. The US NFP data is the main economic number that can shift the dial on the ...Feds monetary policy stance. A weaker number can trigger more weakness in the dollar index. As for Ubers Earnings Release, it is going to be all about Uber eats, and investors will be looking closely at the revenue generated in this part of the business.

FOMC Statement, US Advance GDP q/q and Pfizer, Apple and Amazon Earnings Releases The Fed has a limited choice concerning its monetary policy tools. The interest rates are already at a record low, and the Fed is buying corporate debt. It is aware that the US's economic recovery has stalled and needs more help from monetary policy. The jobless claims are still at an eye-watering level, and the recent data shows over one million Americans have filed for jobless claims. This me...ans that consumer spending is likely to remain feeble for some time, which is bound to have an impact on the US GDP data. Pfizer has been in the news because of its positive data on the coronavirus trial vaccine. Investors are hoping to see a vaccine by the end of this year. Apple has diversified its sources of revenues, and iPhones may not be the major source of revenues for the company. Investors will be looking very closely at the breakdown of the revenue sources in hopes of finding Apple's next hit.

UK Retail Sales m/m, German Flash Manufacturing PMI and Microsoft and Tesla Earnings Releases Boris Johnson took the risk of fully re-opening the economy, but he hedged this bet by making wearing a mask compulsory in shops. The hope is to get the UK economy going and get consumers spending. The UK retail sales data will reflect the health of UK consumers. The ECB has assured investors that it is ready to support the Eurozone with its full power, and the question for investors... is when we are going to see the results of this. Will we see any improvement? US earnings season will provide us with more clarity about the health of the US corporates and how they see the US economy. Tech stocks have performed enormously well during this coronavirus stock rally, and the question is how good the earnings will be.

BOC Monetary Policy Report, Chinese GDP q/y and the ECB Monetary Policy Statement Business sentiment has dropped to its lowest level since the financial crisis in Canada. The Bank of Canada knows that unemployment is high and that it will take a long time until it will show signs of any growth. Despite all of this, the expectations are that the BOC will not deviate from its current monetary narrative. China has once again controlled the outbreak of coronavirus, which shou...ld aid the recovery process. RBA Rate Statement, GBP Monetary Report Hearing and CAD Employment Change Reserve bank of Australia is unlikely to cave into the pressure of surging COVID-19 cases. Markets are expecting the bank to maintain its interest rate. There are also no expectations in terms of loosening the monetary policy further. The current cash rate for RBA is 0.25% Andrew Bailey, the governor of the Bank of England, is likely to assure that the bank has the situation under control, and it does...nt need to fiddle with the interest rate or with its monetary policy. UK GDP q/q, Eurozone CPI Flash Estimates y/y and the US NFP Data The UK has eased off more coronavirus restrictions, which means more businesses can reopen. The biggest question is if consumers are ready to go out and, more importantly, if they have money to spend. The government will be scaling back from its furlough programme in July, which means more unemployment - not suitable for the economy or the GDP. France has officially confirmed that its manufacturing and service...s sectors are back in the expansion territory, and there is also a lot of optimism in German data. This optimism pushed the Euro higher against the dollar last week, and traders wonder if the momentum can continue if we see some life returning to the CPI data as well. The US is releasing its US NFP data one day before its normal time frame because of a national holiday. This does not concern traders; what matters the most for them is whether they are going to see further evidence in this data that the bottom is in place and how much strength there is in this labour market recovery.

The German ZEW economic sentiment has confirmed that the recovery is taking place in the biggest economy of the Eurozone. If the German manufacturing data also confirms the same message, it is likely to improve the German economy. The Euro may face higher volatility on the back of this number. The coronavirus lockdown is over in the UK, and it is time for the economy to get back on the right track. The UKs government and the BOE have supported the economy, and now is the ti...me for these measures to show their results. So far, the dominant message is that UK workers are losing more and more jobs. The Fed has started to buy the corporate bond in order to boost the liquidity for US firms and save them from filing bankruptcies. The unemployment rate is still enormously high in the US, and if the GDP data doesnt show an encouraging reading, we may see some spike in the stock market volatility. Trade the News

Japanese Monetary Policy Statement, US Core Retail Sales and the BOE Official Bank Rate The Bank of Japan knows that the Japanese economy is likely to face much deeper contraction during the second quarter. The first quarters GDP experienced some support from private CAPEX spending, and traders are hoping that the BOJ will save the day for them by announcing another bazooka. The US unemployment rate has dropped to 13.4%, a much lower reading against the forecast of 19%. But ...the question is if there was any noise in this reading? If not, then we should see equally strong reading for the Retail sales data. A robust retail data will provide a clear signal that the economic recovery is strong. Brexit deadline is approaching, and there is no progress made between the EU and the UK. This is going to keep the Bank of England pressured, but the question is if this pressure is enough to push the interest lower. One thing is for certain that the bank reducing the interest rate in this meeting isnt the base scenario for the market.

RBA Rate Statement, ECB Monetary Policy Statement, US NFP Data Speculators believe that the RBA is going to reduce the interest rate by another 25-basis points. However, the governor of the bank doesnt agree with these speculations. He believes the current monetary policy support is sufficient for the time being. One of the ECB monetary policy's key policymakers has indicated that the bank may increase its asset purchase programme during its next meeting. But, with the self-...imposed limit on asset purchases, the ECB needs to be extra innovative to overcome this hurdle. The US job market may not have hit bottom yet, and the continuous jobless claims data remains a chief concern for the Federal Reserve. German GfK Consumer Climate and US Prelim GDP q/q The Franco-German joint debt dealt is likely to address the Eurozone's problems, and any improvement in the Eurozone is expected to support the German consumer climate. Aussie Monetary Policy Minutes, UKs Manufacturing PMI, Eurozone Manufacturing and Services PMI The unemployment situation has become dire in Australia, and the RBAs governor has the working hours as a gauge to measure the health of the labour market. The unemployment rate is expected to rise to 10%, and investors are expecting extra loose monetary policy. Will there be any surprise in these minutes? A three-stage plan has been laid out by the UKs Prime Minister to take... the country out of lockdown. Construction and manufacturer workers are part of the first phase. It is going to take some time for these new initiatives to show their results in the economic data, but the bigger question is if there is significant damage to the demand because the labour market is still weak. Christine Lagarde, the ECBs president, wants to level the playfield for the Eurozone countries. She wants stronger countries to help the most impacted economies.
