This Saturday, 1-4, drop in to the Port Elgin Branch library and help us celebrate our beautiful Carnegie Library's 100th birthday!
Friends of the Port Elgin Branch library are looking forward to marking 110 years since the classic Carnegie-funded Library opened. In preparation for celebrations, December 1, Friends seek photographs, documents, or other memorabilia of the library building, board members, business people or other buildings in its neighbourhood. Friends members will be at the Library Monday November 12 from 1-3 to scan photos and other items for use in displays. ... Anyone who can offer such memorabilia is asked to contact the Friends in advance by email [email protected] or by phone, 519-832-5837. Please do not bring items to the library prior to November 12.
Friends of Port Elgin Branch Library Preparing to celebrate 110 years of Port Elgin's Carnegie Library Is there a library in your family tree? Perhaps your grandfather or... great-grandfather was one of the Port Elgin Library Board in 1908. Maybe your great-grandma worked on the library staff. Did an ancestor operate a business near the Library? Your stories, memories, and photos are welcome as the Friends of the Library approach December 1, 2018, when we will celebrate the 110th Anniversary. Watch for 'collecting days' in the coming weeks. You can keep in touch through the Friends' facebook page or by e-mailing [email protected]
