We understand that times are difficult. That’s why we’re extending benefit payments for three months for those who aren’t able to file their 2019 return on time.... If you already receive Canada child benefit, the GST/HST credit, or both, your benefit payments will be extended to the end of September 2020 based on the information in your 2018 tax return. If we’re unable to assess your 2019 return by early September, your estimated benefits will stop in October 2020. Make sure to file as soon as possible to have your benefits continue, and to receive the right amount. http://ow.ly/SHyN50zHobO

The deadline to file your income tax and benefit return has been extended from April 30th to June 1st, 2020. The deadline to pay any 2019 balance has been ex...tended to August 31st, 2020. This means all 2019 balances paid before September 2020 will not incur any penalties and interest. We encourage you to file your income tax and benefit return electronically and as soon as possible to make sure your benefit and credit payments are not interrupted or delayed. For self-employed individuals and their spouse/common-law partner, 2019 balances paid before September 2020 will not incur any penalties and interest. Your income tax and benefit returns must still be filed by June 15, 2020. Businesses will be allowed to defer until after August 31, 2020, the payment of any income tax amounts that become owing on or after today and before September 2020. We will not contact any small or medium businesses to initiate any post assessment GST/HST or Income Tax audits for the next 4 weeks. The due date for trusts with a tax year ending December 31, 2019 will be extended to May 1, 2020. Trust payments due before August 31, 2020 are also all extended to August 31, 2020. Anything not covered by this measure will be considered on a case-by-case basis. WHo's in YOUR Bedroom ?? Did you know CRA monitors your bedroom! A common law marriage is an informal relationship that does not require the legal form of a statutory marriage. Furthermore, a common law marriage relationship is a matter of fact which is determined by analyzing the partners' situation and applying various factors. That means that a common law marriage relationship may exist even without the knowledge of the partners in question. A common law marriage relatio...nship brings with it some of the rights and responsibilities of a statutory marriage, though the specifics vary by province. For the purposes of the Canadian Income Tax Act, common law partners are treated the same as marriage couples. Prior to 2001 there was an extended definition of spouse to include opposite-sex common law couples but the same-sex partners bill in 2000 removed that definition and added the definition of common law partner to encompass both same-sex and opposite-sex couples and the Income Tax Act has since ceased to differentiate between same-sex and opposite-sex couples.
