#Burek (also known as Borek) is a thin crust pie filled with cheese, minced meat or vegetables that is believed to have its origins in Turkey before it was brought to Serbia and other Balkan countries. #Galas popular burek is filled with locally made ricotta and feta cheese. While the dough is mixed by machine, it needs to be hand tossed and layered; a process that sees the burek master nimbly fling the dough around his upper body and stretch it transparently thin to the size of a small table, all without any holes or rips.

#EasterEggs 2 pounds confectioners' sugar; 1/4 pound margarine, softened; 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese; 2 teaspoons vanilla extract; 12 ounces peanut butter; 1 pound flaked coconut; 4 cups semisweet #chocolate chips; 2 tablespoons shortening In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, margarine, cream cheese and vanilla extract. Divide the batter in half and place each half of the batter in a bowl on its own. Stir peanut butter into one of the bowls and coconut into the second. Usin...g your hands, mold the dough into egg-shapes and arrange the forms on cookie sheets. Place the eggs in the freezer until frozen. Once the eggs have frozen, melt the chocolate and shortening in the top of a double-boiler. Dip the eggs into the chocolate until coated. Place the eggs on wax paper lined cookie sheets and return to the freezer to harden. New York-Style #Cheesecake 3 tablespoons melted butter; 18 graham crackers, crushed; 1/4 cup all-purpose flour; 1 cup sour cream; 1 tablespoon vanilla extract; 4 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese;1 1/2 cups white sugar; 2/3 cup milk; 4 eggs; 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest; 1 teaspoon finely grated #orange zest Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Mix graham cracker crumbs and melted butter in a bowl ...until evenly moistened. Press crumb mixture into the bottom and about 1/2-inch up the sides of the springform pan. #Whisk flour, sour cream, and vanilla extract in bowl. Set aside. #Stir cream cheese and sugar with a wooden spoon in a large bowl until evenly incorporated, 3 to 5 minutes. Pour milk into cream cheese mixture and whisk until just combined. #Whisk in eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Stir in lemon zest, orange zest, and sour cream mixture; whisk until just incorporated. Pour mixture into prepared springform pan. #Bake in the preheated oven until the edges have nicely puffed and the surface of the cheesecake is firm except for a small spot in the center that will jiggle when the pan is gently shaken, about 1 hour. When the cheesecake is done, turn off the oven and let it cool in the oven for 3 to 4 hours. This prevents any cracks from forming on the top of the cheesecake. Enjoy #GalaBakery See more

#CoconutCreamPie 1 cup sweetened flaked #coconut; 3 cups half-and-half; 2 eggs, beaten; 3/4 cup white sugar; 1/2 cup all-purpose flour; 1/4 teaspoon salt;1 teaspoon vanilla extract; 1 (9 inch) pie shell, bake; 1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spread the coconut on a baking sheet and bake it, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 5 minutes. In a medium saucepan, combine the half-and-half, eggs, sugar, flour and salt and mix well. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove the pan from the heat, and stir in 3/4 cup of the toasted coconut and the vanilla extract. Reserve the remaining coconut to top the pie. Pour the filling into the pie shell and chill until firm, about 4 hours. Top with whipped topping and with the reserved coconut. Enjoy #GalaBakery

Real #StrawberryCupcakes 1 1/4 ounces freeze-dried #strawberries; 3/4 cup all-purpose flour; 3/4 cup cake flour; 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder; 1/4 teaspoon baking soda; 1/2 teaspoon salt; 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature; 1 1/3 cups white sugar; 3 eggs, room temperature; 1 teaspoon vanilla extract; 2/3 cup whole milk, room temperature Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line muffin tins with 20 cupcake liners (for mini cupcakes, line 72 mini muffin tins).... Grind strawberries into a fine powder using a coffee grinder or food processor. Whisk strawberry powder, all-purpose flour, cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl. Beat butter and sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Mixture should be noticeably lighter in color. Add room-temperature eggs one at a time, allowing each egg to blend into butter mixture before adding the next. Beat in vanilla extract. Stir flour mixture, alternately with the milk, into butter mixture until just incorporated. Fill lined tins with cupcake batter. Bake in preheated oven until cupcakes spring back when gently touched with a fingertip or a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 16 to 18 minutes for regular cupcakes, 8 to 10 minutes for mini cupcakes.Enjoy #GalaBakery See more

Chunky #Cheesecake #Brownies 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened; 1/4 cup white sugar; 1 egg; 1 cup semisweet #chocolate chips; 1/4 cup butter; 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips; 1/2 cup white sugar; 2 eggs; 2/3 cup all-purpose flour; 1/2 teaspoon baking powder; 1/4 teaspoon salt Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan. Combine cream cheese with 1/4 cup sugar and 1 egg in a mixing bowl; beat until smooth. Stir 1 cup chocolate chi...ps into the cream cheese mixture. Set aside. Fill a saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Turn the heat off, and set a heatproof mixing bowl over the water. In the mixing bowl, combine butter with the remaining cup of chocolate chips; stir until just melted and blended together. Stir in the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and 2 eggs, then sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into chocolate until evenly blended. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate layer. Top with remaining chocolate mixture (this doesn't need to completely cover the cream cheese layer). Using a knife, swirl the top chocolate layer into the cream cheese to make a marble pattern. #Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 to 30 minutes, or until top is crinkled and edges pull away from sides of the pan. Cool thoroughly. Cut into 12 to 16 squares. Store in the refrigerator or freeze. See more
