Hi Everyone! The new calendars are available for pre-order and will be mailed at the end of October, or can be picked up at my gallery in Longview. Please click... on the image to find the online link to purchase these from my website. I am very, very exited about the collection of images contained in these calendars and each photo can be framed when the month is over! I am also pleased to announce that the proceeds from these calendars are going towards my wild horse study which began in April 2020 and will span 3.5 years. I will be monitoring (monthly) foal survivability of 35 herds in the Sundre, Bearberry and Red Deer River watershed and producing a published study when results are complete. This study will give us an accurate account of population dynamics of the wild horses in this range. Thanks everyone! See more

Hi Everyone, I have a very special artist friend that I would like to mention. Jan Walker-Roenisch and her husband Rich live just south of Longview, Alberta in ...a 130 year-old log cabin on the Highwood River. She is a rancher, artist and horsewoman and I am pleased to say that she is now a member of the Garside Art Gallery and Studio. Jan is not active on social media so I want to give her a little help to get some exposure for her lovely work. You can check out her website at https://janwalker-roenisch.com/gallery or message me for more info. Here is a note from Jan about her paintings from a recent trip to the UK: "These paintings are from a recent trip through the UK. It is in the town of Newmarket, which is a town considered to be the race horse capital of the world. There are thousands of thoroughbreds stabled everywhere in and out of town. Some of the most prestigious stables in the world are nearby. The horses come from farms without their own track and are ridden through town, on sidewalks and roads, to get to Warren Hill exercise track. Each farm, some with over 100 horses, has a certain time to use the hill starting in early morning. These paintings are on a walkway from some of the barns that are right in town close to the hill. They wait at this road crossing till they can go. It is a truly remarkable place."

Thanks so much to everyone for their online purchases. Every little purchase helps keep small businesses afloat in this challenging days. This morning from the ...Garside Art Gallery & Studio I am presenting my "Partners Collection" depicting two Alberta Wild Horses engaged in mutual grooming. The soft greys, coppers and plum tones in this image are really nice in home decor, and the vertical lines of the trees are very flattering when worn. Limited quantities available. What makes Wild Designs Clothing & Home Decor products unique? They are made from start to finish in Canada by a sustainability-conscious fashion house in Montreal. The threads are dyed using environment-friendly water-based inks applied to one product at a time. Its an intricate process but it ensures that the artwork never fades, and that it doesnt alter the feel of the fabric which has been custom-engineered for this specific dye technique. The fabric is performance wear polyester & spandex yarn reknitted for fashion. All the fabrics are vegan, moisture wicking & wrinkle-free. People always comment on how soft the fabric feels and how nicely it hangs for a flattering fit. It has been very exciting for me to see how my wildlife imagery comes alive in quality wearable art. Completely Canadian production guarantees the respect of my art copyrights. You are getting a truly unique product! www.debragarsidephotography.com/shop

Legend of the White Buffalo Many believe the birth of a white buffalo calf symbolizes the coming together of humanity into a oneness of heart, mind and spirit. ...One summer a long time ago, the seven sacred council fires of the Lakota Sioux came together and camped. The sun was strong, and the people were starving for there was no game. Two young men went out to hunt. Along the way, the two men met a beautiful young woman dressed in white; she floated as she walked. One man had bad desires for the woman and tried to touch her. But, as he did this, the man was consumed by a huge cloud and turned into a pile of bones. The woman spoke to the second young man and told him, "Return to your people, and tell them I am coming." This holy - wakan - woman brought a wrapped bundle to the people. She unwrapped the bundle, giving the people a sacred pipe and teaching them how to use it for prayer. "With this holy pipe, you will walk like a living prayer," she said. The woman told the Lakota about the value of the buffalo, the women and the children. "You are from Mother Earth," she told the women. "What you are doing is as great as the warriors do." Before she left, she told the people she would return. As she walked away, she rolled over four times. Then, she turned into a white female buffalo calf; hence the name White Buffalo Woman or White Buffalo Calf Woman. It is said, after this important day, the Lakota honored their pipe, and buffalo were plentiful. - courtesy of the Atka Lakota Museum Cultural Centre -

Today's feature from the Garside Art Gallery & Studio is the "Rockstar Collection". From my spring 2012 expedition to Sable Island, this is one of my all time f...avorite images. This stallion was circling a herd of mares trying to get their attention and challenging the band stallion. He reminded me of a rockstar strutting his stuff on stage! Please enjoy. Today's Garside Gallery feature is inspired by "A Walk on the Beach", a photo from my July 2017 trip to Sable. Very few people that visit Sable Island are lucky... enough to visit the ever- changing east spit. I was so fortunate to team up with the girls from the UofS horse research team and we spent the day there. I captured this young filly walking along the beach with seabirds in the background. This line is called "Sable Summer". What makes Wild Designs Clothing & Home Decor products unique? Hi Everyone, I am going to post of series of photo vignettes each day of clothing and artwork from the Garside Gallery. Todays feature line is "Sable Shores". ...Photographed from 500 feet above Sable Islands shoreline, with the door off the plane and strapped in with a safety harness, I photographed this single wild stallion and his long shadow in the late afternoon light. One of the most thrilling moments of my life! The flattering diagonal lines and soft tans, grays and subtle teals, work great with blue or black jeans for a casual look, or black skirt and jacket for a little more formal vibe.
