I will be working with Minor Hockey and Riverview and all minor groups over the next couple of days and speaking with the adult groups and meeting with the Rink Commission. There are always finer instruction details that come to us after these announcements. EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY NOV 25 - We will NOT be allowing Entry to anyone without a proper mask fully cover...ing the Mouth and Nose! No clear half masks that rest on the chin, No Face Shields and No Neck wraps! PREPARE For UPDATED SPECTATOR RULES. Hi All, Tyler is ready to start Skate Sharpening! With Covid, we cannot have persons coming into the facility at Random for this. If you are here for a normal rental night and he is working, you can speak with him about arrangements. Starting out, There will be a bin placed out back by the propane tanks for drop off on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm with Pickup being Wednesday and Friday afternoons. $7 a pair, exact change Please.

Hi All, With a few minutes here, I want to thank everybody for a very good First weekend of games under the guidelines. A few conversation but over all it is appreciated. The conversations really stem from understanding how it works outside of the ice times. "Don't bring your personal Opinion in here." The inspectors do not care if we believe masks work, If we believe in the virus or what any of our opinions are. To have things changed, the arguments need to go to the provin...ce and/or Health Authority. Communication with the facility, WHMH, Riverview and all users is constant and we are trying to be as Lenient as we can be for the resources we have. If guidelines change, or through communication and compliance with what we have, we can upgrade- I Promise you we will. Please- Wear a Mask, sign in, watch the ice time and exit through a side door. Putting Staff and volunteers in a position of Enforcement doesn't help or change anything- We are doing the best we can. Shane

Hi All, I am hoping to start the Parent-Tot/ Senior Skates in the next few weeks. Right now I have some things that have to come first. Covid guidelines bring challenges to this and Public Skates and I need to be able to put my Attention to it. I will announce when I am ready to get it going.

News and Notes and Reminders- As we move into Phase 2 tonight, Reminder of Coming together. The Conference calls and discussions are immense. Moving into any Phase 3 really depends on communities with Phase 2 all over the province. As reports go in NSHA looks at All of us and wether we have issues and determine a Phase 3 and when that will be based on All information. - Please keep the 2 persons at Adults. Parents, grandparents, etc. Not younger children and siblings. - Mask... at all times unless you present the facility with a Doctors not of Exemption. - Please wait patiently, the screening station will let you know when that group can start entering. - A cell booster has been installed, should have signal in the cold area now, any issues please let me know. GFL- Newport Recreation Centre. Rules, policy and procedure for Phase 2 beginning Oct 1st. - Masks MUST be worn in the building at ALL times as the Public Health order. A Doctors note of exemption must be given to the facility to enter without a mask. Users will wear mask until coach says to place helmets and mask must be placed back on when helmet is removed.... - No food or drink in the building as masks Must be worn! - No Entering and exiting the building, Once in, Stay in! - Players can Enter the building 40min before their time. - U9 and Younger Must come with Gear On, dressing room time and space will be at a premium. - U13 & Younger- 2 Parent/Guardian per player may enter the building with player and assist with equipment. Must stand at social distance marker or sit in seating close to their player’s dressing room socially distanced. Parent and player Must exit through the dressing room exit door in a timely and orderly fashion. Highly recommended all in this age group come dressed, room time and space will be at a premium. - All other age groups, 2 Parent/Guardian per player. Normally players do not need parental assistance, Players may Enter 40min before their time. Parent / Guardian may Enter a few minutes before actual ice time. Must stand at a social distance marker along the rink glass or sit in the stands, socially distanced, above your players dressing room. Spectator and Player Must exit through the dressing room exit door of your player. - No Exit Backflow through the main Entrance! - No Showers. - The warm room and wheel chair perch will remain closed at this time! Authorized personnel only. - As Public Health Order, All persons entering have to be screened and contact listed. - Parent / Guardian with more than 1 player on at different times and same Parent / Guardian staying, Must Exit the building with player 1 and return to be contact listed again with player 2. NOTE- Upgraded projection to Phase 3 is November when Game Play begins. Minor associations, clubs and facilities have a huge undertaking through the month of October to comply with public orders with the volume of skaters that will be entering the building. We need teamwork to continue to move forward. Game Play with visiting Teams! Please Ensure a proper communication Line with visiting teams to Ensure there are NO surprises. Our Facility rules must be implemented. Please have a plan for screening and contact listing, work together with the team coming to ensure this is an easy process Including referees. Hi All, Need to get serious with the Facility Rules being followed! The reports in about some groups and persons bringing their personal opinions and wants in are not going to be passed over. We are one of the more Lenient facilities with the 2 per skater, allowing both parents and/or with taking turns allows grandparents and such an opportunity to see their skater on the ice some this season. Watching is a PRIVILEGE and we will take a step backwards faster than forwards. I...t Needs to be UNDERSTOOD that facilities staying open is touchy, what happens outside of here DOES NOT MATTER! Those appreciative and doing it RIGHT need to be help with those doing it WRONG! The ONE will lose the privilege for ALL! - Masks MUST be worn at ALL Times in the Building! - NO FOOD or DRINK in the BUILDING! - Social Distancing MUST be Observed! Shane

GFL Centre- Open letter to begin Phase 2 To all users, organizations, associations and members of the public. As we prepare to move forward to Phase 2 with the new announcement, we all need to realize we are NOT back to normal. The upgraded announcement is fantastic for those using the ice and to allow some spectators, but there are still many regulations and reporting policies that come with these upgrades. The facility has to look at ALL regulations and come up with a pla...n that best suits our building, the safety of our employees and the safety of our visitors. We will continue to work with all stakeholders to improve the plan as we all move forward. Ice sports are way ahead of what the projected return was just 3 months ago. We still have areas in the country that do not have ice yet, and we will still have facilities that will NOT allow spectators even with the new announcement. Covid remains a threat and it is most important to keep our community safe. As Dr Strang noted in his update on 09 /23/2020, as reports go in, the privilege of watching can be taken away just as fast as it came. To continue to move forward to the next phase, we need patience, respect and compliance with Phase 2. We ALL need to work together to have a successful return. Newport & District Rink Commission

Good day All, Hope everybody is doing well. Our Atlantic Bubble is doing Great and we all need to stay the course for continued success moving forward. I will be placing a lot of information out later today, As we move into a phase 2 starting on Oct 1st, please read all carefully, share with all members of your families and make a plan. The Facility, all minor groups and players still have Provincial guidelines to abide by. These guidelines are a Huge undertaking, please do ...not put a volunteer or staff in a position of turning people away, take turns with grandparents, aunts and uncles. Have a plan for siblings to be picked up. Please Do Not bring food, drinks, coffee into the building- Masks Must be worn. Moving into a phase 3 upgrade, projected for early November depends on the whole community with phase 2. What is happening in a couple days wasn't projected until December just 3 months ago. Shane

We would like to issue a reminder to parents that the guidelines for both Kentville and Brooklyn both state: 1 parent per child at this time we have not reached... a time yet where restrictions are lifted (oct 1 things might change). We ask that unless you are a volunteer with 4P Hockey or contact us about additional family that you do your best to respect and adhere to these rules. We are lucky here in the valley area that rinks are letting parents in, some are not so we ask that you work with us and support the arena guidelines. Well Hello Everybody, Hope all are well. Just a small discussion on the announcement for sports. It is Fantastic in a lot of ways for those that will be going ON the ice, for coaches, organizations and users. But it also Triples the work by users in some areas. Please do NOT mistake that announcement with the thought that We are as normal. There are still Provincial Guidelines and regulations that Have to be followed. Those regulations have to be fit to the facility, then we ...have to fit to what each user can handle, then we will announce what our facility rules will be. Right now we are still under the guidelines and rules that are in place and we are still at the One parent / guardian for U13 and younger only. An amazing amount of effort needs to be done by all before we know when or if that will change. Personalizing frustration at me, does Nothing! I have hundreds of ice users to find a common ground for with staying in guidelines, The ONE will Never be more important than the Many! Shane

Hi All, Hope everyone is well as we adjust. Good Luck to all returning to school, hopefully all goes well and in a couple weeks we will see guidelines change for the better. A little Clarity- the 4P camp is kind of its own approved entity, one parent / guardian for all ages. All other renters, right now, It is 0ne parent/guardian for u9, u11 & u13(small upgrade) only. I do hope to upgrade this but we need to get into the new routine and become a team, the rules are not mine ...or the employees, we have guidelines and Laws to follow, and expenses to keep as low as possible to be able to offer ice to our community. Items of concern; - No Food or Drink brought in. Sneaking in with a coffee and hanging your mask off your ear because you have one is Not an excuse, if you want a coffee, stay outside and enjoy it. - The Stands are NOT in use yet!!!!!!!! - Please use dressing room exit doors to leave the building, we are having way to much backflow thru the front entrance. Myself, Robbie and Tyler are asking for your support, there is No Statement to be made by bringing a personal opinion here, I do NOT want to take away the parent / Guardian, but it would have to be the next step. Been busy as Ice is open, We have some camps going on, It is a new routine and rules to get used to. Working on a plan that will get the availability of some Shinny hockey back, staying with...in guidelines, Hopefully that will be approved in the next couple of weeks and we can continue to move forward. Good morning everyone, Hope all is well. Here we are on track for a Saturday start with the 4P Hockey program. 4P has an approved plan by us and will run pretty close to Kentville, small differences due to our buildings being different and We will be sending those out today. I will also be sending out our procedures and protocols as we get ready to start. A lot of time goes into what we are starting with, we have to stay within Guidelines and look at our building, community ...and staff health and safety. Please send any questions and suggestions to me, if there is anything we can change staying within guidelines, we certainly will, we have to start somewhere. Just a few notes: Masks are Mandatory at all times in the building. If you have a medical exemption, please provide proof (Doctors Note) to the manager, we do not need to know the reason. For those age groups where a Parent / Guardian is allowed, there are social distance markers on the outside of the rink boards, there is No access to the stands or warm room at this time. I will be sending a bulk email shortly with all the attachments to most of my contacts and will place things on here sometime today. 4P Hockey continues to bring the news!!! This is a big one...... Joining Laurie Barron this coming week on Monday and Wednesday will be our local NHLer Drake Ba...therson. We are super excited Drake was able to fit this into his off season training and come to join the kids on the ice. We know there will be lots of excited kids at the rink this week with Laurie and Drake taking the ice.

Here we are on track to start chill down on Monday morning, getting the first skaters on Saturday Aug 29. I will be releasing our protocols and procedures early next week, I know a lot of persons have been to other facilities, we will be VERY Close to all others but may have some differences due to the ...buildings being different or whatever they may be. There is Nothing about it starting off that is Normal, The Community is ready for some ice availability for some exercise, keep skills getting better and get some cold air flowing around them. West Hants Minor Hockey Association is working diligently behind the scenes to plan our upcoming 2020-21 hockey season. Hockey Nova Scotia has rolled out their Rebound Plan (you can find a copy on our website) that includes a 3 Phase approach to for getting our game back up and running with a start date for tryouts to begin on October 1st. As you know, each season team creation, ice rental and registration fees are based on numbers and therefore we would like to get a projection as to how many players we might expect this coming season. We want to ensure ice is secured accordingly and that our coaches and managers are in place and ready to go. Hello Everybody, NS still is doing fantastic with our Virus numbers, great to see our Province respecting this issue working to keep everyone safe. Currently working on our re-opening policies and procedures, again some of you have probably been to other facilities, we will be very close to that being within NSHA Guidelines and making sure we are as safe and efficient as we can be. Barring any major issues coming up, I plan on having skaters on the ice on Saturday Aug 29, ...Please check out the 4 Pillars Hockey camp, 4 VERY well known player development coaches coming together to get kids on the ice and work on the skills to make them all better Hockey Players. I will Announce in the coming couple weeks when we will be taking bookings, things will be a New Normal and some growing pains need to be expected from all of us, the community we are, we will be Fine. Reminder we need your registration forms so we can finalize divisions and determine what we need for ice. We know there are questions on schedules, we were able... to finalize a draft today just need to have it gone over for quality control reasons We will say Monday - Wednesday - Saturday for the most part will be our male division nights ( with some deviation from time to time due to amount of ice blocks needed). Tuesday - Thursday and Sunday’s will be our female nights. We understand people need to plan around work and family time, we are doing our best to ensure our schedule is as user friendly as possible. There will be challenges at times for people but we are doing the best we can. This is a 4 week camp (for the most part) with a few times outside that window. Our goal is to provide options for families over a longer haul than just a traditional week camp, with our schedule you will have your son and daughter with ice options for that period of time. Question: will 4P need help both on and off ice? Either with dressing room help or front reception? Answer: yes, 100% we will be looking for volunteers to help ...us receive the kids and help with the COVID screening. We will also need dressing room supervision and on ice support. Question: if I want to volunteer to help make the camp run smooth by donating my time is there any incentive? Answer: depending on the level of help and what you as a parent are willing to contribute yes but please reach out to Matt, Luke, Gregg and / or Kevin and ask the questions. We want this to be a seamless experience and to do that we need dedicated people to assist us.

We will require those to be fil...led out and sent back which will finalize your spot. Question: What are our payment options? Answer: We will be accepting deposits and will accept 4 payments up to payment in full at once. Hello Hello Everyone, Long time since we talked from your community GFL Centre. Congrats to all on the Virus numbers doing Great. Hopefully we all stay with it, help our neighbours and visitors abide by the rules of Self Isolate and Social distance and we can keep moving forward. Here at the Facility, we are starting to button up our summer maintenance and repairs. Unless we take a turn backwards, I will have Ice for our community in August, just working on a few ideas befo...re I narrow that down to the day. You have probably heard of the procedures from the few rinks that are open, we will be following Health guidelines whatever they may be as we move to the New Normal and get the kids back on some ice. Hi All, Please see the below statement issued to me by the Newport & District Rink Commission. With this, I will be honoring the ice times in the book Only. Hopefully we all do our part and nip this over the next few months. Stay Safe and have a Great Spring & Summer. When directed to, the facility will become available for any summer functions, I will also start looking at booking for next season around the end of June and will be putting skaters on the Ice about Aug 25th, ...2020 or earlier if the demand is there. HANTS CONCRETE CUP!!! Wow what a Weekend- First round goes Shockingly Fast as both series are done in 2 games. First Game- Brad McNeil Stellar goaltending allowed the Bear to pick away offensively and take down Indian Brook in 2 straight. A spirited affair, Lake found away to keep his troops calm as he could and it proved to be the difference as penalties and losing players hurt Indian Brook. Game 2- Falmouth found a way to take it in 2 straight, Nathan Vienot and Hartlin ha...d the guys ready but the bounces just weren't going their way. Not calling it upset but a shocker this isn't going to 3 games!!! Finals- Game 1 Fri the 13th at 8pm- Garrett Lake and Patterson getting the teams wound up, Going to be GREAT!
