October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Last year, an all-women team at BlackBerry shared their expertise in the development of Digital Defenders. The result? Girls have an amazing opportunity to dive into: how a computer works how encryption and malware work... how data travels what hacking is all about; and what careers are in cybersecurity. This program empowers girls in Guiding to navigate the digital world they live in and gives girls the kind of cyber savvy skills they might not be able to find anywhere else.
We rise by lifting others.
Girl Guides of Canada in Newfoundland and Labrador will enter into meeting level "Indoor 1" on Monday, October 5. Ask your girl's guider for more information!

As Honorary Patron of Girl Guides of Canada (NL Division), & a former Brownie/Girl Guide Leader, it was a delight to host the 28th St. John’s Girl Guides on the... grounds of Government House tonight where they could physically distance for their weekly meeting. Thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them & their leaders, Kelly Batten Hender, Amanda Eid, Kristen Rendell, & answering their questions about the role of a Lieutenant Governor. They were learning as well about the involvement of The Royal Family in guiding. Welcomed opportunity to share with them that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, joined the Girl Guides when she was 11 years old as a princess while her younger sister Margaret became a brownie. In 1952 The Queen became patron of the Girl Guides. Aide-de-Camp was Pam Rodgers. Thank you

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we acknowledge that we still have work to do to achieve our goal of being an organization where Indigenous girls and ...women feel welcome, respected and valued for who they are. We will continue to listen and learn, and collaboratively move toward action. One way we are doing so is through our partnership with Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada. Together we are working to meet a need for culturally relevant programming for Inuit girls. #NIPDCanada
To recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day we'll be celebrating the people and organizations who have generously shared their wisdom and helped us on our jour...ney to become an organization where Indigenous girls and women feel welcome, respected and valued. Our friends at 3 Things Consulting have shown us that we must put Truth before Reconciliation, including what our Indigenous members have shared with us about their experiences in Guiding. Our Indigenous girl and adult members have shown us that we must work to provide a safe space for them not just as girls and women, but as Indigenous girls and women. We will continue to listen and learn, and collaboratively move toward action. #NIPDCanada
