We can actively #ChoosetoChallenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions and improve situations; individually we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions, but collectively we can do more. This #IWD2021, #GIRLSInspire is sharing small actions which have a big impact (UN Women, 2020) let’s work together and apply it in our lives to build a gender equal world and change the world! #GenerationEquality #ChoosetoChallenge #IWD2021 #SDG5
Women’s participation in political, corporate, and public life has steadily increased, however, progress in achieving gender parity in political and decision-making spheres remains slow. Gender quotas have contributed to women’s access to local government positions, a necessary condition for ensuring the inclusion of women’s interests and perspectives in local decision-making (United Nations, 2020). This #IWD2021 we can all #ChoosetoChallenge gender inequalities to help create an inclusive world #IWD2021 #ChoosetoChallenge #GenerationEquality #GIRLSInspire Commonwealth of Learning #SDG5 #Pledgeforparity
"Violence against women and girls is defined as any act of gender-based violence that results in physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering of women and girls, including threats of such acts, whether taking place in public or in private life" (UN Women, 2020). This takes place every day and in every corner of the globe. Violence causes serious short and long-term physical, economic and psychological consequences for women and girls, preventing their full and equal participation in society. Join the #GIRLSInspire social media campaign to learn the facts and to fight against gender-based violence! #orangetheworld #GenerationEquality #16days #COLGender
