Squash season is upon us... but with so many varieties, which do you choose? Delicata squash, aka sweet potato squash, is a healthy source of Vitamin A with a great dose of Fiber! Each cup only contains approximately 80 calories and since it is smaller than other winter squashes, it makes the perfect size for a dinner for 1 or 2. Check out @daniellasilvercooks to see how she uses this beautiful squash in her delicious 'Roasted Squash with Onions & Pears' recipe. Koginut squa...sh from @boscofarms is tender, buttery with an edible skin and can be prepared in a similar way as the Delicata. Roast with sweet, savory spices and dinner is ready! Both available now along with a variety of other winter squashes.

Happy Monday! Today’s topic: Eyes For many, working from home has now become the new norm. This means 8+ hours a day of staring at a computer screen, which can make our eyes dry due to a lack of blinking. Even for those not working, increased usage on our phones making tiktoks or binging Ozark on Netflix could be straining as well. Now what might help with this? ... Omega-3s! Aka essential fats, meaning our body cannot make these and must get them from the food we eat. Studies have shown a beneficial effect of O3 fatty acids alleviating dry eye symptoms by decreasing tear evaporation rates, commonly associated with prolonged exposure to computer screens. Foods high in O3s include fish (especially salmon), vegetable oils, nuts (walnuts in particular), flaxseeds/flaxseed oil, and leafy greens. It’s important to note that there are different types of O3s, such as EPA/DHA and ALA, and some of these foods also contain other key nutrients, like Vit A and Lutein, that help protect our vision too. Now that we have the extra time to be at home, it is the perfect opportunity to nourish our body as well as our mind with all there is to learn about nutrition Have a great week everyone!

To our valued customers, As a result of the evolving COVID-19 outbreak and after much thought this week, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the store effective Sunday, April 5th for 1-2 weeks until further notice. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience as we understand the holidays are quickly approaching. However, we are faced with multiple challenges obtaining merchandise at the market in a safe and timely manner.... The health and safety of our customers and staff is our top priority. We must do our part in helping to keep the community safe. Having said that, we will be monitoring the conditions on a daily basis to keep you informed and provide updates. Thank you for your continual patience and support. Please be safe and take care. Best regards, Carlos & Lily

Oftentimes, most people will turn to citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes) when they feel a cold coming on. Why? Because it is full of Vitamin C, a key contributor to your immune defense system. It helps stimulate the production of white blood cells and antibodies that fight infection. But eating lemons all day won’t give you lemonade.. in fact, red peppers contain almost 3x the amount of Vit C! As with broccoli, this mighty green vegetable is packed with vit...amins and minerals. However, keep in mind that the less you cook it, the more nutritional benefits it has. So grab some dip and eat it raw KEY TAKEAWAY: while these foods will not prevent you from getting sick, it will surely help keep your immune system strong. The most important thing right now is to properly nourish your body with a variety of fruits and vegetables. We hope these tips are helpful and sparks some interest to do your own research, it is just as important to stay informed!
