The studies are clear about golf it gets golfers outside, it is good for your heart, it relieves stress, and it can improve your mental health. 4 Golf Is A Home Game. Recent research conducted by NGCOA Canada and Golf Canada in the past week confirmed that more than 85% of golf in 2020 was played locally. With over 800 golf courses throughout Ontario, there is virtually a golf course in every community to be enjoyed. 5 Golf is Social. We have all been lacking safe social interaction these last six months since Golf Courses closed for the winter. We have seen hope and happiness in the golfers who played this spring before the lockdown and we can’t wait to bring more happiness to them.

#ThrowbackThursday This is throwing it back to 2003 when we built our Halfway House located just outside our front door and close to hole #9. We cant wait to open the Halfway House for the season as we have some NEW ITEMS this summer that we are so excited about.

Tuesday Tourney: SAVE THE DATE Our 2021 Tournaments Have the Following Guidelines: 1Tee Time start: you will see on the poster the start time for each tournament. You are able to request a start time that is between the hours set out on the poster based on availability and out 10 minute tee time intervals.... 2 Deluxe Boxed Lunch: this will be a step up from your traditional tournament lunch filled with a delicious meal made by Lynne and homemade goodies. This will be made available at the turn. 3 No Roast Beef dinners: there is so much uncertainty with what will be open and if dining rooms will be and what capacity we have chosen to not include these dinners this season. 4 Prizes: will be gift certificates that will be mailed out to your team captain. Results will be posted on the Website following the tournament where you can review. 5 Power Carts: if you drive together to the golf course or are from the same bubble you are allowed to ride together. Other wise if needed a divider will be provided for you. 6 Arriving at Golf Course: you are able to arrive 30 minutes prior to your tee time if you wish to hit your complementary warm up bucket. We ran our tournaments last season with the above guidelines and were thrilled with the response from golfers. We can’t wait to see you at the Goderich Sunset Golf Club to help us celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Ashley Gravett Journal Entry October 13th 2020: 25,000+ Steps 6 Podcasts: Spitting Chiclets, 2x Dax Shepard, Angie Lee, Off the Vine, Sibling Rivalry covering a wide variety of topics today keeping me entertained! 4 Lites of Water Drank Shovelled approx 1,000,000 plugs off the greens. ... Today we aerated the Sunset greens and shovelled off all the plugs in one day. What a great day! Thank you to all our workers for working really hard to get it all done. This is one of the top 3 jobs a Superintendent does in a season and I’m always up for the challenge. What a FABULOUS day we had at St Thomas Golf and Country Club for the NGCOA Annual Golf Tournament. This was the first time in 18 years we were all able to attend. Special thank you to Tag, Graham and Kaitlyn for working so we could make this happen! We had a few eagle putts yesterday but were happy to walk away with Birdies as our eagle putts were above the hole and our first two putter liped out and rolled 20-30 feet past the hole. What an unbelievably gorgeous... but challenging track. Highlight for Gary and Kirk was that they got to get off at the subway stop after of our LadyPro Ashley all day as she had to play from the Pro Tees. We had just the BEST time and the weather was perfect for October golf! See more

WOW! What a finish to yesterdays Senior Mens 27 Hole Boom Gravett Scramble. There were a lot of impressive scores throughout the 27 holes but again the tournament came down to how players performed on our Par 3 Course to determine a winner. This year we had two teams finishing with a TIE of -19 score. The teams of: Bob Williams, Kelly Stout, J.R. McAnulty, Lee Tomlinson tied Bill Peters, Paul Dougherty, Doug Wilson and Scott Fuller. Both teams headed to the 100-yar...d marker on Hole # 18 with a closest to the pin winning the tournament. Bob Williams was closest to the pin with 10 feet 2 inches away from the hole. The Mary Gravett Memorial: Swinging Grandmothers Tourney took place today. Thank you to Grandma Mary for ordering the sunshine for these lovely ! Our Junior Club Championship took place today on the Goderich Sunset Golf Club. After 18 holes of golf Dixon Schoemaker and Ryan Magee were tied with 92. This meant we were headed to a playoff. Starting on Hole # 10 with Ryan safely on the green Dixon made a great up and down sinking a 10 foot putt to extend it to Hole #11. They both made routine pars on #11 sending them to #12. With Dixon in safely with a score of 5, Ryan made a smooth 15 footer from the fringe ...to tie the hole. On # 13 Ryan made a great two putt for par while Dixon made a bogie crowning Ryan our Junior Boys Club Champion. What an exciting time for these two juniors to go head to head in a four hole play off. Super proud of both Ryan and Dixon! Third place was Simon Squire and Fourth place went to Mathew Kerr! Great rounds boys!

Our Cuzzy Bear Junior Golf League finished up on Tuesday night! What a great season for these juniors. It was very exciting to see how their scores improved as the season went out. What an EXCITING afternoon we had waiting for the scores to come in from our Annual Cuzzy Bear Jr Golf Camp Tourney! At point we had a three way TIE for first place until the Standen/Hickey clan came in and were our new clubhouse leaders. Thanks to Jordyns 20 foot birdie putt on hole #9 they clinched FIRST PLACE! Anxiously awaiting the final teams to come off the Par 3 Course for our Annual Junior Camp Family Tournament to this years winners. In the meantime here are all the FAMILY photos from todays event. It was so amazing to see all these families out on the course making BIRDIES and out driving some of the parents. These kids are GREAT!

Rally for the Cure Cheque presentation! Thank you to Barb Lassaline and her committee of Lynn Million, Donna Partridge and Ashley Gravett. We recognize how difficult times have been over the last few months and the incredible challenges that COVID-19 has created. Thats what makes this group of determined ladies even more amazing, as they found a way to persevere and raise funds for our hospital despite the challenges. We want to say congratulations on another successful Rally for the Cure and a very sincere thank you for continuing to support much needed services at AMGH, shared Shannon LaHay, AMGH Foundation Executive Director.

We had THREE generations of Livingstons play this weekend in our Club Championship. This was a FIRST for us. What a great bunch of guys to have play this weekend. Not everyone gets a chance to play with their grandfather but Zane got to participate in a Club Championship with his. L-R: Zane Livingston, Kirk Livingston and Harvey Livingston.

Mother Nature sure gave us a run for our money yesterday. Lightning and thunder and major rainfall couldnt stop us from finishing up Day 2 of Club Championship.
