Good News Auto Repair 31.05.2021

Thanks to our partner Sherwood Park Alliance Church for helping out one of our customers. The vehicle didn't qualify for JumpStart so instead, we were able to help with paying the rent for a couple of months. The rent money goes to pay for the vehicle ( or whatever is most important) and everyone wins. Happy customer and happy us because we get to say YES instead of no. Always a good day when we are able to give someone a JUMPSTART!

Another reminder to always get a prepurchase and Car Proof when buying a used vehicle. A couple brought in a vehicle for a post purchase inspection that they were lied to about on every level. A Car Proof found the seller lied about who owned it and for how long, the kms, and about it being in an accident. IF a seller tries to pressure you, for example " I have three other people coming to see it" WALK AWAY! It isn't worth it. They are telling you with their words that it isn't worth it. Pre Purchase inspections are worth the money you will save. There are no laws in Alberta governing private sales of vehicles (shame on government) and people take full advantage of that.

When we started Good News Auto in 2012 it was to facilitate our JumpStart Fund. We wanted to help people who had a larger repair that they weren't able to manage. We didn't want people to have to choose between rent and repairs. We wanted people to be able to keep getting to work and moving forward. Last year we helped with $27,000 worth of vehicle repairs (with help of Sherwood Park Alliance Church and customer donations). We also helped with some living expenses. One of the reasons we started Good News Auto and our JumpStart Fund was to educate people about their vehicle. It's not enough to help financially with repairs, we want people to know more so thye can make informed decisions about their vehicle. Our in person workshops are currently on hold however our online courses are still available. Visit www.whycarcare.org to learn about your vehicle and our JumpStart Fund.
