Team BC is saddened to hear of the passing of one our alumni, Tristan Alexander, and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and teammates. Tristan was an exceptional athlete, teammate, student, and friend. In addition to his many athletic accolades, Tristan represented Team BC in Judo at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, winning a bronze medal in the Individual Over 81 kg Male category and gold in the Male Team Competition. Tea...m BC and the entire Judo community will remember him as a fierce competitor with a heart of gold. Thank you Jeremy Grant for sharing some memories of Tristan with us: Tristan was often described as a gentle giant. Anyone who practiced with him knew they were in strong but safe hands and anyone who fought him in tournaments would question the label. During his young athlete life Tristan participated in and excelled at many sports and had an expansive social circle. He took great pleasure in the interaction with others and was always incredibly generous with his time. Tristan was also very independent and maintained a high standard of personal integrity, owning his choices and being clear that those choices were about him and not a reflection of others around him. This was the beautiful way in which he demonstrated a gentle yet decisive path in life a true judoka at heart and a great man in the making. Gone too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tristan's loved ones.
