We are bringing back our "Journey to Potential" series! We know that with the current lockdown, it is important to many that they keep themselves active. To encourage learning and activity, we are bringing back a series we did a little while ago with Global TV called "Journey to Potential." This series of short videos features many of our programs at Grandview Kids, where a #TeamGrandview member will walk you through practical tips for any child or youth to practice at home. From a speech and language perspective, "fluency" refers to the continuity, smoothness, rate and effort of our speech and sound production. All Grandview Kids locations will be open during the province-wide Lockdown, announced earlier today by the Ontario government. We are deemed an essential business within the government’s pandemic response framework. We will continue to provide both in-person and virtual appointments. We are confident that the enhanced screening, PPE utilization and cleaning protocols we have implemented in response to COVID-19 enable us to safely deliver services to clients and families, d...espite the pandemic. All clients/families received an email communication from Grandview Kids at 4:17 p.m. on December 21 outlining additional details. The Lockdown begins December 26 at 12:01 a.m. for 28 days in Durham Region and many other areas. More information on COVID-19 and the Lockdown can be found at covid-19.ontario.ca. Please note that Grandview Kids will be closed for the holidays, as previously scheduled and communicated to all families, from December 24 at noon until January 4 at 7:30 a.m. If you need to reach us before or after the holiday closure, please call (toll free) 1-800-304-6180. We understand that the restrictions associated with Lockdown have a marked effect on our day-to-day lives. Like much else in 2020, this holiday season will not feel like all the others. We encourage you to look after yourself and your loved ones even if that means distanced or virtual check-ins. The toll the pandemic has taken on our collective physical and mental health is unprecedented and must be combatted with compassion for one another. Please take care.

A warm congratulations goes out to Honorary Lifetime Director at Grandview Children's Foundation, Terry Johnston, for being named the 65th Peter Perry Award win...ner at the annual Whitby Chamber event on November 13th. We are so grateful to Mr. Johnston for being such a great friend and advocate at Grandview Kids for so many years. It's not at all surprising that the Whitby Chamber has chosen to acknowledge Terry for his outstanding contributions to his community. In Terry's words: "It's not about yourself, it's about what you can do for others." Terry you are an inspiration to us all!
