Yesterday, our friends at the Province gave the green light on short term accommodations As you make plans and slowly come out of hibernation, here are some t...ips to keep top of mind: Tip #1 Your PEC packing list should include a mask, hand sanitizer and oodles of patience. We’re all adjusting to a new reality and hiccups, lineups, mixups are bound to happen. Be patient and be kind. Everyone is doing their best. . Tip #2 Call ahead, call ahead, call ahead. Contact your favourite restaurant, tasting room to see what they’ve got for curbside pickup. Keep an eye on www.supportlocalpec.ca for available shops and services during COVID times. . Tip #3 You’ll see signage in stores, parking lots, restaurants, washrooms and more. They’re there to keep everyone safe. Please respect any instructions that are being given. . Tip #4 Keep your distance while out and about. 2 metres is still the recommended distance and groups of more than 5 are still not permitted. Wash your hands and wear a mask. . Tip #5 If you’re feeling unwell or showing any symptoms, stay home til you’re in tip top shape. . Tip #6 For now, beaches and parks remain closed for everything other than strolling. Restaurants and tasting rooms are still on curbside pickup. Remember, we’re all figuring this out as we go! Two years ago, @coriandergirl (I call her Alison) approached me about opening a shop in her beautiful building in Picton. I wanted to jump on the offer, but rea...listically I could not afford to do it on my own. So we thought, let’s do this together. She has another space next door, that was occupied by a tenant, and we told eachother, when the time is right we will be next door neighbours, each with our own dream space. It’s been two years of bliss, sharing a space with this angel-gem-of-a-friend-turned-sister. A few months ago, Al approached me with some exciting news: 198 Main St was up for lease. Holy Moly! How could I make this work? That’s when it hit me. I’m friends with so many talented women, who I trust and love dearly, and who I know would be on board with this. @eastcitycandles @bethaniekaye and @cylinderstudio are all magic makers, strong business women, and creative kindreds, and just like that, we decided to create one epic shop. The lease was signed and we were just about to get the keys. ... Then the world got struck with a pandemic, and our plans were put on hold. We gave eachother space... to deal, to isolate, to think about what we each wanted. It was decided that we weren’t giving up. Are we nuts for starting a new business at a time like this? Maybe! But I can tell you, that the things that have brought me immense joy in life, are all things that involved me taking huge risks. So, why stop there? The space is small and simple and when it’s infused with each one of our personalities, it’s going to be a space full of passion, hard work, and dreams becoming reality. At the moment, we’ve begun renos the best and safest way we can. We will keep you posted in our stories, of when and how we will open. We’ll also let you know when we actually have an Instagram account created. @coriandergirl thank you for everything, and for giving us this opportunity to join the best block in all of The County.
