Update: Crews continue to clean up a diesel spill at the scene. The roadway is expected to open around 5:30-6:00am according to police. --- Update: Elm Street at Big Nickel Road remains closed as of 3:00am due to a serious MVC. Police continue the investigation into the cause. Two people are deceased and one person is in hospital with non life-threating injuries. --- Traffic Update: Police, Fire and EMS on the scene of a serious MVC at the intersection of Elm St. and Big Nickel mine Road. Edit: This applies to private/social gatherings. Schools, business, churches etc are not changing with this announcement.

Update: RCMP have arrested a man following an extended standoff and say there were no injuries. --- BREAKING: RCMP are searching for possible active shooter in Cape Dorset, Nunavut.... RCMP has received reports of gun shots and is investigating. They ask residents to say indoors. There are no reports of injuries at this time. Let's hope people are just on edge over the events of Nova Scotia and this is also a false alarm.
