A neon beacon on a rainy day, a dry porch to sit in, a hot cup of coffee... you gotta take what life offers.
Green Bus Cafe is closed today, which means it is time to roast some coffee. This is a few pounds of green Sumatran coffee beans on the inspection tray. Those of you who rode a Bluebird bus to school will recognize the setting. Our coffee is indeed roasted on a green bus. All of our coffee is organic, and we manually inspect each batch, picking out those beans that will negatively impact flavour; beans that are immature, discoloured or moulded. Our coffee, like our cooking, is not a factory product.
Even our compact kitchen contains much equipment, and we would like to thank Jake at Williams and the good folks at Germaine’s for their help in finding what we need to keep Green Bus Cafe rolling.

The steel counter support was custom fabricated by Windsor Metal Services, and the stools were provided by Windsor Chrome Furniture, both long-standing local firms that understand quality.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the people and businesses who helped us get the cafe off the ground. One of our first stops on this odyssey was Roland signs. We wanted real neon, and we wanted a bus... and Ron and the folks at Roland promptly came up with an eye-catching design that fit our space perfectly. The lesson for us was not to immediately seek what you need in the maze of the internet, because your neighbours in Windsor have skills and talent.
If we put up a flag once a year to recognise and celebrate the good things that Canada is, that will leave us 364 days to work at making it better. Have a good one, eh.
A double-shot of espresso, a half cup or so of hot water, sugar and cream to taste... it’s the coffee equivalent of a Bobby Hull slapshot into the top corner of the net. We are not sure what they call it on the other side of the border, but here we call it a Canadiano, and it’s the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day.
Our good friend Teresa set up a draw for our Cafe, the prize being a french press and a beautiful pair of mugs printed with avian imagery. The draw is open to any customer. Also, today we are serving potato-broccoli soup.
Serving red-lentil butternut squash soup for lunch. Also fresh made egg salad on baguette.
It’s a weird, little-known fact that a goodly percentage of Windsor residents who drive army trucks prefer Green Bus coffee. We are not sure what this means.
The Green Bus Polar Espresso, which you will find in our cooler, is assembled using three ingredients: a double shot of espresso, milk, and sugar. Give it a shake, toss in an icecube, enjoy.
As Henry Standing Bear might say, It is a beautiful day at the Green Bus Cafe and continual soirée.
We would like acknowledge the assistance of the Windsor Downtown Business Improvement Association in starting our cafe. These materials will help us - and our customers - stay safe. Green Bus Cafe is proud to be part of the downtown community.
No offence, but what good is a two-bite brownie? It just means you have to catch another. THIS brownie will require four bites, which begs the question, what should it be named? Quad Brownie? Four Wheel Drive Brownie? Suggestions?
