There are thousands of great reasons to find things locally. You may notice a trend on my blog of testing products local to me but suggesting finding something local to you! Here are my top 3 reasons to shop local. Add yours in the comments. Tag a local maker to show some love Supporting a small business means supporting a family. Makers are so much more than their products. They are passion, love, craftsmanship and unique. When I buy local I get a story behind the piece ...which increases my commitment to my eco journey. I get adorable thank you cards which reminds me I am 'buying direct' and supporting my neighbor and local economy. I hear a lot of jokes today about the world just being people working from home and Amazon boxes flying through the air. (Its true tho even I'm a prime member) But there is an enormous Carbon footprint that goes with all of this shipping. Buying local means a stop on my way home from work or a quick envelope in regular mail. No additional packaging and overnight shipping. Trend setting. Do you know why I chose the name greenroots mother? Because grass roots movements are the most effective especially in consumerism and fashion. The more we support small local businesses and spread the word about the type of products we want - eco-friendly, organic etc. The more likely big companies will follow suit and make their own products better.
