Hey students! Don’t bring COVID-19 home for the holidays. If you’ve been living away from home, studying at colleges and universities, consider doing a self-quarantine, or reducing close contact with others, 10 to 14 days before returning home for the holidays.

Full media release at bit.ly/3ikdcvN The Grey Bruce Health Unit and local hospitals are working together to increase testing capacity at area COVID-19 Assessment Centres where community testing is performed. The centres operate under the direction of local hospital corporations. Hospitals are being encouraged to increase hours of operation and staffing numbers to accommodate demand.... The public can support Assessment Centres by ensuring asymptomatic individuals (those who have never had symptoms) don’t present for testing unless advised otherwise by Public Health or a health care provider. If you are unsure of whether to visit an assessment centre, complete the provincial online COVID-19 self-assessment tool to evaluate your symptoms. Anyone unable to attend a scheduled appointment is asked to immediately notify the Assessment Centre and cancel their booking. The physicians, nursing staff, and admin staff at the assessment centers are burning the candle at both ends to ensure children and patients are not waiting. Although public health does not operate assessment centres, we will spare no resource or effort to support health care workers to provide testing to all people that need it in a timely fashion. says Dr. Ian Arra, Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health. Our health care workers deserve all the support that they need, so they can ensure no children who are unwell with symptoms deemed by their provider to be possible COVID19 goes to sleep not tested. Local COVID-19 Assessment Centres are operated by Grey Bruce Health Services, South Bruce Grey Health Centre and Hanover and District Hospital. Although not a public health mandate, the health unit has been providing medical directives to Long-Term Care and Retirement Home to allow for testing in these facilities. Public Health also continues to deploy staff in the field to ensure testing of vulnerable population such as on First Nations, and shelters, among others. Grey County Paramedic Services has also provided testing and are...

Will it really be a bargain trip if you return with COVID-19 as a souvenir? Travel prices may seem cheap, but remember that international travellers must quarantine for 14 days when they return to Canada and possibly longer if they are infected with COVID-19. Also, the Government of Canada has issued a travel advisory to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada. Strict travel restrictions and fewer international transportation options mean you may have difficulty returning to Canada or may have to remain abroad for an unknown amount of time. Protect yourself, your family and your community by skipping a getaway this winter. Learn more about current travel guidance here: https://bit.ly/2UZk5t4

CERB officially ends on October 3rd, 2020. If you receive CERB through Service Canada, the switch from CERB to EI will be automatic. The minimum hours require...d to receive EI has been set at 420 hours in the last 52 weeks. Under this requirement, you will receive a minimum of $400/week. If you do not have 420 hours but do have a minimum of 120 hours, the government will do a one-time top up of 300 hours to get you to the 420. This top up will be automatic if all of your Records of Employment are in your My Service Canada account. Be sure to check your My Service Canada account to make sure all ROEs are logged and check your hours for the last 52 weeks. If you receive CERB through the Canada Revenue Agency, you need to apply for EI through Service Canada. For more information on this transition process, visit: https://www.canada.ca//supporting-canadians-through-the-ne Have questions on how you can improve your financial health?
