Building a healthy relationship with food is important. Yet, it is a difficult topic that we don't often discuss as a community. LCRC tackles this problem through our Grow Cook Learn programs, where we bring community members together to learn about and play with food. Donate to support the ongoing workshops and food literacy programs through Grow Cook Learn. http://lcrc.on.ca/donate-now #GivingTuesday #GivingTuesdayCa #GrowCookLearn #MindYourPlate #CommunityGarden #Community #LdnOnt

With limited kitchen space, and limited ingredients, I decided to try making tortillas! Very easy, and very tasty! What other easy recipes would you try with limited kitchen space and ingredients? After carefully harvesting potatoes earlier in the season, we replanted our potato plants in the hopes of producing a second harvest of potatoes. While the uprooting and replanting process was traumatizing to the plants, they were able to last more than a month, long enough to give some new (smaller) potatoes! With more practice, hopefully we can make future gardening seasons even more efficient! #GrowCookLearn #ldnont #gardening #potatoes #CommunityGarden

As a society, we often throw out foods that dont look perfect. However, its important to remember that just because we cant wash something off and take a bite doesnt mean it cant be consumed another way. Pictured below we have a few apples from Westview Community Garden which have been affected by insects, but instead of discarding them Sam Dow peeled them and made some delicious applesauce. As an organization, we are committed to educating ourselves about anti-racism and anti-Black racism, and we understand that racism is an everyday reality for people in Canada and all over the world. The moment we have all been waiting for our seedling sale is live! . . . This sale is going to operate a little differently than our basil sale, so please ...note that all seedling requests will be taken ONLY through email or over the phone (no DMs please), and we will be arranging safe, contactless pick-ups on the farm rather than doing deliveries. In your email please include your name, contact number, varities and quantities of seedlings you would like to purchase, and the pricing tier (wholesale or affordable) you would like to pay. For more information on our pricing tier, please visit our last post! . . There are limited quantities of each variety, so if you have your eye on something in particular (we dream about those silver slicer cucumbers all year long ) we highly recommend emailing sooner rather than later! Once we confirm with you via email that your requested seedlings are in stock, an e-transfer of payment will secure your order. . . . We are so excited to be offering seedlings this year (thanks in part to the growing space with our friends at The Grove at Western Fair District) and cant wait to share these little plant babies with you all! Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some of the incredible homes some of our other seedlings have made it to it wouldnt be possible without our URL family buying seedlings, farm shares, and showing your beautiful support . . . Now lets get those hands dirty! @ London, Ontario

So much of the work we do at LCRC could not be done without the help of volunteers. Volunteers are responsible for leading our Grow Cook Learn and Mind Your Plate programs, contributing their own ideas and experiences in the process. They support our community garden. They support our compost sales, our bingo events and all of our fundraising initiatives. Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers that have helped us get to where we are, and continue to support us moving fo...rward! We appreciate all of the work they have done, and it couldnt have happened without them! #NVW2020 #GrowCookLearn #LdnOnt #Volunteer #thankyou #eatlocal #sustainableliving
