GSS Updates 23.04.2021

For the first year ever at Gladstone, we will host a CultureFest to celebrate the diversity of the student body we have at our school. Interested in performing? Want to share a bit of your culture with people all around Gladstone? Come to CultureFest, where all Gladstone students have the opportunity to participate in! This is a perfect opportunity to connect with your culture and those around you. Acts can perform cultural dances, songs, instruments or essentially any acts ...that correlate with your culture! Submissions will be due Friday, April 23rd. This is NOT an audition process; everyone is encouraged to participate. SEE THE GOOGLE FORMS LINK: https://forms.gle/F6SnxUqWFX234ggv6 You will need to include a (roughly) 30-second video clip of the act you want to showcase. Partners and groups are allowed! Although please be mindful to keep your group within reasonable numbers and safety precautions will be adjusted to your group's size. Your act may be no longer than 7 minutes. This is a multimedia event, where both live performance and videos can be showcased (we have a very large screen projector.) Acts of all mediums are encouraged. Alongside with the performing arts, you can also perform spoken word, talk about an interesting part of your culture, perform martial arts, etc. We provide the support and microphones, and the stage is all yours. Once you have submitted an application to hold your spot in CultureFest (April 23), you will have to commit to being present to the following dates: Friday, April 30 - Tech Rehearsal (afterschool) Friday, May 7 - LIVESHOW (afterschool) Additionally, you must be communicative so we can figure out how to best support your performance! On top of helping build Gladstone to be a safer and more inclusive space, you will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a prize thats supports a local business. The audience will be by invitation courtesy of participants. Since this is an in-person event, COVID-19 tracking will be in place and a very limited amount of students can take seats in the auditorium. The live show will be filmed and edited to a video production. It will be available for the rest of the school in late May.
