It was very surreal [being on set for ‘The Neighbours’] as my studio and paintings were recreated for Ouverture, a dream come true since I had wanted to move to Rome to paint. I enjoyed playing the fantasy version of myself, where I could wear a bell sleeve dress and magically create a photorealistic painting while on a swing. For episode 5 ‘The Neighbours’, Silvia Calderoni wore a transparent chiffon dress with lace and flower details. Captured by Gus Van Sant on other members from the cast interpreting the neighbours, a T-shirt printed on the front with #1921a reference to the year Gucci was foundeda three-piece GG motif green suit with wide legged cropped pants, waistcoat and jacket detailed with lion head brooches on the lapels and Jackie 1961 bags. On the streets of Rome, Silvia discovers a vintage shop with a neon Gucci sign in the window. As she and a diverse cast of customers begin to try on clothes from the racks, an enigmatic woman walks into the store.

Part of an ongoing multi-medium project visualising personal traumas, experiences, studies, and identities, Campbell tells stories of self-understanding and release. Drawing on elements of spirituality, Black history and Afro-Futurism, her life is translated into dialogue-free vignettes left open to our interpretation. Directed by Shanel Campbell Shanel Campbell Multidisciplinary artist and designer Shanel Campbell is a Bronx-born, NYC-based queer first-generation Black woman with Caribbean lineage. In 2018, she held her first independent fashion exhibition, showing custom garments created for a number of noted artists, educators and actors.
