Well Folks Figgy OUT ! Happy Holidays to all and please stay safe and I will be back in 2021 to visit and celly the holidays. Reminder Guelph Animal Hospital will be closed Dec 24th thru Dec 26th, reopening 9am Dec 27th.

Figgy is such a big help restocking supplies! We have so much to do before we close December 24, 25 and 26th for the holiday. The team is pulling together to get everything prepared! Happy and Safe Holiday

Today is the last day of October and the final spotlight for RVT Appreciation Month. We are shining a bright spotlight on a TECH in training to become registered. Katie will be finishing up her formal education December 2020 and will be completing the registration process in March 2021. Katie has been training as a tech for the past three years and has been mentored by our fantastic RVT team and our DVMs. Let's get to know Katie ... Katie's favourite food is anything sweet, especially chocolate! Katie loves all types of music. She likes anything from classic rock to rap, to indie and dance music Katie like figure skating, spending time with her family, watching disney movies and cuddling with her cats We asked Katie why she wants to become an RVT and she responded "I love being able to care for animals in need at their most vulnerable moments. Being able to help animals who are sick and uncomfortable feel better is so incredibly rewarding. I also love the pride I feel in my work. Being a veterinary technician is incredibly challenging, both mentally and physically. However, at the end of the day, being able to advocate and care for animals in need is unlike any other profession." Katie added "I also love that I have the opportunity to work in so many diverse areas every day. From caring for hospitalized patients, anesthesiology, radiology, pathology, and client education. Every day is different." We are all so proud of Katie's hard work and dedication. Keep up the hardwork Katie, you are in the home stretch and we are very lucky to have you on our team.

Today we are shining the spotlight on our newest RVT Julie. Julie joined the team this month. We are lucky to have Julie on our team. Let's get to know Julie Julie's favourite food is a warm bowl of homemade soup.... Julie's favourite music is country music. Julie enjoys hiking with her dog Vinnie, spending time outdoors as well as enjoys cooking and baking new things. Julie told us that she always wanted to work with animals since she was a kid. Julie said "I knew this profession would allow me to help provide comfort to animals as well as continue to expand my knowledge in veterinary medicine." Julie has been an RVT for 10 years! Today we will get to know Katrina! Shining our spotlight, let's see what we can learn. Katrina has been an RVT for 3 years and joined the GAH team in 2018. Katrina has been a great asset to our team and always has a smile to share with the team and our clients. Katrina's favourite food is Sushi... Katrina's favourite musician is Beyonce Katrina likes to spend her weekend volunteering at a horse stable, where she helps to teach kids about horse behaviour, proper care and riding skills. Her other hobbies are hiking, swimming, and any other excuse to be outside When asked 'Why did you become an RVT?' she replied " I chose to become an RVT because I wanted a career that not only could I help the wellbeing of animals everyday but also continue to learn new skills in order to better help our patients. Brookyln was here for her second Health Pup Appointment with Dr Palmer. Brooklyn is a 2.5mth of Bull Terrier and is an absolute sweetie. We love watching these littlies grow

Today we are shining the spotlight on Diana! Diana has been a member of the GAH team for 16 years! When asked how long Diana has been an RVT she replied "Forever!" Let's get to know Diana Diana's favourite food is grilled cheese, such great comfort food during the fall.... Diana's favourite band Bad Suns Diana has many ways to fill her downtime some of her hobbies are crafting, reading, baking, biking, spending time with Lachlan (her adorable 2 yr old), taking Reese on hikes and a good nap is always nice. When asked why Diana decided to become an RVT she replied "I’ve been an animal lover my whole life. I was always that kid that wanted to pet every animal I saw and whose favourite stuffie was a ‘Puppy’. As I grew up, I knew I wanted to expand that love into also caring for them. Pets are not just animals, they are family members. As such, they deserve the same standard of care as any of their human counterparts. This is something I wanted to be a part of and most importantly to advocate for those who may not be so fortunate." We are very lucky to have Diana as a member of our team

Happy Friday Friends! Today we will be shining the spotlight on Stacey Stacey has worked at the Guelph Animal Hospital since 2010 and we absolutely love having her on the team Let's get nosey and get to know Stacey a bit better! Stacey's favourite foods are sushi, Vietnamese, Thai food however can’t prepare herself! .. Stacey added "right now though because I’m pregnant I basically just love all food.... and desserts!"... When Stacey was asked for favourite music she replied "it's hard to narrow down but Neil young and Beatles come to mind". Stacey enjoys being outdoors and by the water, baking, reading and being with her family both two and four legged. Stacey became an RVT because she had a huge love for animals her whole life and as an adult was interested in health/medicine. Being an RVT combined both interests and she said "I don’t regret my choice for a second." Stacey has been an RVT for 13.5 years and then added " I’m getting old ". Spotlighting our newest RVT Purvi :) Purvi joined our team at the beginning of September and has been an amazing addition to our team. We are very lucky to have her on our team. Let's get to know Purvi :)... Purvi's favourite food is CAKE! Purvi has been an RVT for 8 years Purvi's favourite music is strangely, both hip hop and classical. That would be an interesting play list :) During her downtime Purvi enjoys exercising, travelling, getting lost in a good book and beach days in the summer. When asked 'Why did you become an RVT?" Purvi replied "I wanted to combine my interest and love for animals, biology and medicine. The RVT career is the perfect blend which allows me to play a direct role in healing and nurturing our favourite companions. We appreciate our RVT team everyday however this month we appreciate them a little bit extra :) Give a shout out to Purvi :)

We are closed today. Happy Thanksgiving, we know this is a difficult time and many of us are missing gatherings with our families. RVT Spotlight is on Caitlin today! Caitlin has been an RVT for 7 years and joined the team at the Guelph Animal Hospital in 2018. Let's learn a little bit about Caitlin and see if there are any surprises Caitlin's favourite food is pasta Caitlin doesn't have a favourite band or music however her favourite artist is PINK Caitlin enjoys time snuggling with her own animals on the couch and going for hikes for some fresh air. ... Caitlin has wanted to work with animals since she was old enough to speak. She chose to become an RVT to advocate and help those animals that needed it! Puppy and kitten snuggles are just an added bonus. Caitlin has been trying to get married this year however with the pandemic her wedding plans have adapted and adjusted. You are going to be a beautiful bride, someday soon :) We are lucky to have you on our team!

Today we are highlighting Julie! Julie was worried that she was going to be too boring for us to highlight, however we feel she is something special. Julie has been an RVT for 8 years and joined the Guelph Animal Hospital team in 2017 Julie's favourite food is sushi When asked what Julie's favourite music was she responded "I don't really have a favorite that I can think of". Well I have personally observed Julie encouraging Dr Butler to Rap and once you see that you can'...t unsee it! Julie likes RAP music Julie's hobbies are dog walks, reading and napping. Julie became an RVT so she could help improve the lives/health of animals and give those who can't speak, a voice.

Highlighting our Registered Veterinary Technician Team this month! Today we are shining the spotlight on Whitney Whitney has been an RVT for 4.5 years, working at Guelph Animal Hospital since 2017, when we were lucky enough to have her join our team. Whitney's favourite food is RAMEN :)... Whitney's favourite music/band is Sylvan Esso! During downtime Whitney enjoys rock climbing and we frequently see Whitney on a skateboard enjoying a Starbucks :) When we asked Whitney WHY she choose a career as an RVT - her reply was " I want to make a difference in the quality of an animal's life. My ultimate goal is too work in wildlife rehabilitation where I can make a difference for wildlife health and population" :) Help us show Whitney how much we appreciate her!

Highlighting our RVT Team this month! Today we are going to highlight Sadie :) Sadie has been an RVT for 9 wonderful crazy years and worked at the Guelph Animal Hospital since 2015, when we were lucky to have her join our team. Sadie's favourite food by far is pizza! Being the perfect balance of all things good :)... Sadie's favourite music/band is alternative rock/ubiquitous Synergy Seeker:) Sadie became a Mom 2 years ago trading a life of leisure for a life of chasing a toddler around, and she wouldn't have it any other way! Sadie enjoys playing as a family and exploring beautiful Centre Wellington. Sadie enjoys baking, music, a good binge-worthy television series and sometimes dabbling with video games during her down time. We asked Sadie WHY she chose a career as an RVT and she said "I've loved animals as long as I can remember. Choosing a career with like minded individuals was a no-brainer." Help us show Sadie how much we appreciate her!
