New NOAA population estimate for North Atlantic right whales indicates that there were only 366 whales alive in January 2019 an 11% decline from the year befo...re. Since that time, there have been 10 right whales found dead, with at least another four whales seriously injured and likely to die. With so few North Atlantic right whales, every single death brings this species one step closer to disappearing forever Researchers, government agencies, shipping and fishing industries and conservation organizations are gathering virtually over the next two days for the North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium Annual Meeting. This meeting gives participants an opportunity to gather and exchange ideas and information about research, new techniques, management strategies, and other facets of right whale conservation. Saving #rightwhales isn't going to come out of one country, one organization or one person. It's going to take a collaborative effort by ALL to bring this species back from the brink.

With powerful jaws like these the Atlantic wolffish prefers hard-bodied prey like sea snails, which it crushes like M&Ms. But without jaws, this blood-curdling ...blood-sucker known as the Lamprey, has over ten rows of teeth. It literally sucks the life out of its prey, however, attaching fast to the side of its chosen target and draining it of blood and other bodily fluids. Geoduck clams have some of the longest lives in the world, often reaching over 100 years old. A male geoduck was found to still be fertile even at 107. http://ow.ly/g9pp50BSweD
