It’s a Winter Wonderland here in the Niagara Region, the first real snowfall for us this season. This is your friendly reminder to make sure that your vehicle is prepared to take on the elements. Get yourself booked in for a winter service which would include all, but not limited to the following: Battery Cold temperatures require your car to use more current from the battery in order to start the engine. Testing the battery and inspecting all cables and terminals is a m...ust to avoid a car that won’t start on a cold morning. Wiper Fluid We check and top-up your wiper fluid to make sure you’re never in a situation where you have reduced visibility due to ice, snow, salt, mud and overall dirt on the road. Wiper Blades We will check your wiper blades and make sure they’re working optimally and up to the task of keeping your windshield free of dirt, salt and winter precipitation. Tires Ontario safety guidelines state that any tire with 2mm of tread or less require replacing. 2mm of less would also offer virtually zero traction in snow and be prone to hydroplaning in rain and should be replaced regardless of the time of year. Snow tires are a good option this time of year as they’re made of softer rubber that remains flexible in colder temperatures and are specifically designed to keep their grip in snow and ice. If you stick to all-season tires year-round, we would check to make sure that you have at least 5mm of tread for the best winter traction. Tire Pressure We would check that all of your tires and your spare have the required tire pressure recommended by the manufacturer for your vehicle. Cold weather causes air pressure in your tires to drop at a rate of approximately 1PSI per 10 degrees. Oil Change Changing your oil every 5,000 7,000kms regardless of the time of year is critical for optimal vehicle performance as your engine needs lubrication to run. Belts, Hoses, Coolant and everything that cooler temperatures effect will be checked over as well so if you haven’t already, we recommend that you get your vehicle booked in for a winter service to avoid being stuck on the side of the road in these snowy and cold temperatures. Yes, we remain open and are here to help. . With the new government regulations that were released yesterday, we are fortunate to still be able to open up each morning and continue to provide you with all of your tire and automotive repair and service needs. . We are still running an appointment only operation and still running our daily operations with all of usual COVID precautions in place. WE ARE OPEN BUT OUR DOORS REMAIN LOCKED/CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.... . Our hours remain Monday through Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm and Closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday until further notice. . As a reminder, we ask that when dropping you vehicles off we ask for a clean working space for our employees that consists of NO masks (we don’t care if they’re clean or dirty) in the vehicle, No garbage, No dirty kleenex hanging around. We then ask that you drop your keys in our Key Drop Box (locked in the man door on the right side of the building) for the keys to be sanitized. When your vehicle is done we will call you and you can pay over the phone with credit card or by e-transfer. You can then let us know when you will be coming for your vehicle and we will make sure that a copy of your bill and keys are in the vehicle before your arrival. .
