The 12 Staff of HPCFC Day 12: Our Amazing Volunteers! We have an absolutely wonderful team of staff members but we never could do what we do without our AMAZING team of volunteers!... From maintenance around our building, serving at events, baking treats for our Mom's to have a snack at Group to helping with childcare and our Care Closet during the week, our faithful team of volunteers are always eager to help wherever needed. Thank you to all those who partner with us by giving of your time! We are sincerely grateful for all you do!

The 12 Staff of HPCFC Day 11: Annie Hi! My name is Annie! You’ll notice that this post is written a bit differently than the other staff posts you may have seen over the last few days and that’s because my role at HPCFC is Communications. This means that some of my responsibilities are designing graphics, posters, and other publications, working on our website, church relations, and running our social media pages. Almost everything you see on our social media is posted by m...e, including this post! I also work on many of our fundraisers and help lead Captivating Camp in the summer. A fun fact about myself is I lived in Portland, Oregon, USA for 3.5 years while attending school. During my time there, I learned to LOVE coffee and if you know anything about the West Coast, you know that I’m now a dark roast fanatic! When I asked my coworkers how they would describe me, one word that was jokingly thrown around was ‘sparkly’ because of my love for bright colours and sparkly things, which very much matches my personality. But upon further questioning, 3 words that my coworkers used to describe me were articulate, approachable, and wise. I LOVE CHRISTMAS! There are so many things I love about Christmas so it was hard to pick my favourite tradition. However, if I absolutely had to pick just one tradition that I couldn’t live without it would be receiving Christmas pj's, slippers, and an ornament that represents my year on Christmas Eve from my parents. It’s a great time to reflect on fond memories and personal growth from the previous year and a chance to look ahead and plan for the following year.

The 12 Staff of HPCFC Day 10: Val Val is our Program Coordinator at our Caledonia Centre, where she runs our Growing Together and Beginning Together programs as well as providing parenting support for our Caledonia and Hagersville clients. ... A fun (and pretty funny) fact about Val is even though she works at a pregnancy centre, she is extremely grossed out by birth! Childbirth and anything to do with it makes her queasy, which her Caledonia coworkers love to tease her about. When asked, Val's coworkers all agree that she is intuitive, funny, and always committed to further educating herself and others. Val told us that her favourite Christmas tradition is all the firsts; the first time putting up decorations, the first time it snows, the first time listening to Christmas Carols, the first Sunday of Advent, etc.

The 12 Staff of HPCFC Day 9: Stephanie Stephanie is one of our Child and Youth Workers at our Dunnville Centre, however, like most of our team, she wears many hats. Some of her responsibilities include working 1:1 with children and youth to assist them with navigating through challenges that they may be facing, understanding emotions, how to have healthy relationships, and so much more. Some of her other responsibilities include running Captivating Camp, Me, Myself & Mommy ...groups, doing pre and postnatal sessions, providing parenting support, and being a doula for clients in need of additional birthing support. While Stephanie is currently on maternity leave, we are looking forward to her return in February, when she will also co-lead a mom oriented Bible study. A fun fact about Stephanie is she enjoys putting together IKEA furniture and anything with directions. While Stephanie has many admirable qualities, her coworkers would describe her as compassionate, easy-going but competitive when it comes to games and sports. Since Stephanie is a mom of two adorable little humans, she says she is looking forward to creating Christmas traditions with her husband and kids, which will include Christmas pjs, creating family memories and, most importantly, celebrating Jesus' birthday.
