This year things are a little different for the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon, with the annual event going virtual due to Covid. Huge shout out to our members that are participating in the virtual edition this weekend. Sammie stepped up this year to assist in the search effort to locate a lost shoe belong to the Bluenose mascot. Once it was located, she helped get that shoe to Myles so he could start his run. We look forward to returning to the Scotiabank Charity Challenge next year, which is an important annual fundraising event for our team. #GSAR

We have been receiving a lot of interest in joining Halifax Search and Rescue this year. With our last recruitment process starting in the summer of 2019, we were looking forward to conducting our next Prospective Volunteer Information Session. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we do not anticipate recruiting until late spring/summer of 2021. This will be just in time to start the training in Fall 2021. Our team is 100% volunteer based and currently has over 160 activ...e members that continue to train and respond in our community. The info session is an opportunity for us to get to meet new recruits and give them a good idea of what we expect of volunteers and how the application process works. This event requires a large number of people to come together, as it can involve several of our partner agencies such as Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency, Halifax Regional Police, and the Red Cross. Each #SARPartner provides brief overviews of their organizations and opportunities. This provides alternate opportunities for individuals in the community wishing to volunteer, however discover during the session that search and rescue might not be their best fit. Stay safe Nova Scotia! #GSAR #SARFamily #SARPartners #Volunteer
