The 2018 Santa Barbara County Chardonnay is sourced from Bien Nacido, Dierberg, La Rinconada, and Sanford & Benedict vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Native yeast fermentation begins naturally with no battonage. After malo the wine is aged 11 months in French oak sur lie (15% new) and comes in at a fresh 13% abv. Lemon confit, white flowers, dried herbs and tropical inflections add layers of nuance, but more than anything else, the Santa Barbara Chardonnay impresses with its exceptional balance and vibrancy. New vintages of Three Sticks have arived! Three Sticks Wines is a boutique, family-owned winery founded by Bill Price (William S. Price III). Founded in 2002, the winery is named for Bill’s surfing nickname, Billy Three Sticks, which was assigned to him in his youth as a reference to the three Roman numerals that follow his name. As a long-time fan and collector of wines from the Durell Vineyard, Price purchased the property from Ed Durell in 1998, and launched Three Sti...cks a few years later. Since then they have hired legendary Sonoma winemaker Bob Cabral (previously of Williams Selyam) as well as purchased more iconic vineyards - 111 Wilson Vineyard, DuPont Vineyard, One Sky Vineyard and Gap’s Crown Vineyard. Three Sticks follows a very low intervention policy across the board. They also have what they call a no crush policy with every lot of grapes to come in is treated with utmost care and minimal handling. They insists on keeping every vineyard block separate from the others from the moment they are picked on through fermentation, barrel aging and final blending. These are pure expressions of Sonoma terroir and we couldn't be more excited to work with their team in bringing these wines to market! This was to be a big week! The Grand Cru Culinary Wines Festival was to run from Oct 29 - Oct 30th but 2020 seemed to have other plans! Instead we are here reminiscing about Grand Cru events of past and being thankful for all of you who have donated time & money or simply participated in the past. Together we have raised more than $63 million dollars since Grand Cru's inception in 2005. All monies have gone directly to fund key programs funded by Toronto General & Western ...Hospital Foundation and UHN, including but not limited to the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, the Krembil Brain Institute, the Soham & Shaila Ajmera Family Transplant Centre, the McEwen Stem Cell Institute and so much more. We want to extend this thank you to our incredible producers who have donated their time and countless bottles of wine a for our grand tasting, auctions and dinner events over the years.
