On this holiday weekend, we are grateful for the strength and the resilience of our HCC community. Over the past 7 months, we have adjusted, accepted, grieved, struggled, shared, rallied, grown, and celebrated. Beneath of all of that, we have held gratitude for our choir family. Whether we are in-person, at home, or both... that magic persists. ... Today, perhaps more than ever, we are thankful for the many beautiful humans who make HCC so full of magic.

Some things feel very different this year, of course. But preparing holiday music before Thanksgiving? Now that's a familiar choir feeling! Our Ilumini choristers are part of this tremendous collaboration - aiming to have 2000 singers across Canada taking part in the recording. The composer has visited us in rehearsal, and has a beautiful vision of cross-country community. Interested? Any choir can join in on the chorus! Come sing with us!

Another Ilumini rehearsal night, and another workshop with a world-renowned clinician.. this time from South Africa! We love performing Michael Joseph Barrett’s arrangement of the beautiful South African piece, Indodana. His work as director of Tuks Camerata is legendary. Tonight... we get to learn more incredible music from him. Sure, it’ll be past midnight in Pretoria, but we bet that the energy will be too high for him to notice!

Exciting night! We have Elise Bradley, MNZM, Artistic Director of Toronto Children's Chorus, and tremendously charismatic human being, who will be leading us in a session on Mãori music and culture, from New Zealand. Kia Ora!

This fall, every HCC ensemble will continue to meet online as a full group. We love the sense of pride our members feel about belonging to their HCC ensembles. We’re also adding opportunities for smaller sections, quartets and soloists. We know that performing is an essential expression of artistry for our singers. Turns out, we’re not just about the treble. Profunda, our HCC ensemble for singers with changed (or changing) voices, is seeking singers between the ages of 15 and 30. If you sing in a tenor or bass range, have experience reading music, and are looking for a vibrant and inclusive choral community, we’ve got you!
