Hello Everybody I believe that the registration is up and running now, I have decided that it will be easier if I enter each of the Skaters into the system(for the most it is a cut and paste of the info that you provided me at the beginning of the season). As I enter each skater into the system, there are a couple of Waivers to sign off on, and the system will automatically send you an email with the waivers and if you agree you can check the boxes and follow the steps to re...turn it. I have already entered a few skaters tonight and hope to get the rest tomorrow night. You may have gotten the "waiver email" already. If you have any questions let me know See you tomorrow! Well here we are at the end of another speed skating season. This coming week is our last week of skating for the season. On Monday night, for any Group 3 or Group 4 skater with club skates, we will be set up at the sign in desk and collect them as you leave the rink. So please be sure to have the skates, soft guards and hard guards, coming to the rink. This will be the same process for Group 1 and Group 2 on thursday night. If you have club skates and are not going to make... it to skating this week, please let me know and we'll make arrangements to get the skates back to the club. Thanks See You Tomorrow Charles MacNeil HSSC - President [email protected] www.hamptonspeedskating.ca Find us on facebook

Hello Everybody I hope you are enjoying your March break !! You can't get a nicer winter day to be outside, than today. Good News 1)With the Dept.of Health's change, announced on Friday, allowing movement between Orange Zones, the rink has adapted too, allowing people entering the rink that have been in other orange zones. Below is a picture of the rinks revised screening questions to enter the rink.... 2) We are skating during March Break. Bad News 1) Due to a miscommunication between HSSC and the rink, we won't be skating on Thursday March 4th. Sorry about that. 2) The last night for Monday only skaters is March 15th and the last night for the Monday and Thursday skaters will be March 18th. Hello Everybody I hope you are doing well with the snow ! We are on for skating for tonight, Feb. 8.(enter rink at 5:15pm) As i said earlier, as part of the Orange Level, we have to ask each person that enters the rink the 4 screening questions. I hope to have 2 people asking the questions, and I believe we can ask your family as a group. Once you have been screened in, don't forget to apply hand sanitizer.... Don't forget your mask. See you tonight. Thanks so much Charles MacNeil HSSC - President [email protected] www.hamptonspeedskating.ca Find us on facebook Join our Members only Facebook Group

Hello Everybody With the great turn in case numbers in the last week, the Board of Hampton Speed Skating has decided to resume Speed Skating Practices on Monday Feb. 8th. This will be the first time we ran skating during an Orange Phase of the Province's Recovery Plan so there are a couple of slight changes from when we last skated. 1) Each user group is required to ask the people that are entering the rink the screening questions, as opposed to before we initialed that we r...ead the question and were OK to enter the rink. 2) The rink has adopted a rule that if anyone has been in another NB Health Zone that is at the Orange, Red, or Lockdown level, that person can't not enter the rink for 14 days from the time of their return from these other zones. 3) Drop in skaters from other clubs are not permitted during the Orange Phase. A reminder of one of the previous rules is that no one is allowed to bring food or drinks(coffee, etc) into the rink, except the skaters are allowed a water bottle. The following sign is posted on the Rink doors, stating their conditions for entry to the rink. image.png Thank you for your patients, this has been quite an interrupted season. Hopefully we can finish this season without any more interruptions Charles MacNeil HSSC - President [email protected] www.hamptonspeedskating.ca Find us on facebook Join our Members only Facebook Group

Hello Everybody Happy New Year. I hope everybody had an enjoyable Holiday. I have a couple of items:... 1)Skating Resumes this week( tonight Dec.4th) 2)With the new Covid cases in the Fredericton Zone( 12 in the last couple of days) Hampton Speed Skating would like to take the extra step in precaution, by way of, if you were visiting in the Fredericton Zone in the last week, we ask that you refrain from going to skating for this week. Saint John Zone has been doing excellent for the last little while and we would like it to stay that way. 3) We received a reminder from the rink that food and drink(coffee) is prohibited in the rink.( Skater can have water Bottles) Thanks for your cooperation 4) I have started emailing parents regarding registration fees, letting them know what is owed. I should be able to contact everybody this week. I hope that we can have an uninterrupted remainder of the Season. Hello Everybody I have been speaking with Peter, our coach, and several of our Board members over the last couple of days, in regards to the change to the ORANGE Level in our health zone(Zone 2 - Saint John) With the recent spike in numbers of Covid case in the zone today, Hampton Speed Skating decided to cancel Skating for both Monday(23rd) and Thursday(26th) for this week. We choose to do it as a proactive action to help the reduction in spread. The safety of our skaters an...d their families is our top priority. When I look at our club's membership we have skaters from Saint John to Sussex area. Bringing everybody together at this time would not be a wise decision. I have spoken with the Saint John Speed Skating club and they have suspended skating as well. We will continue to monitor and update everyone during next week. If you have any questions, let me know Stay safe everybody !!!! Thanks so much Charles MacNeil HSSC - President

Hello Everybody Peter mentioned this to the skaters last night at skating. Peter was thinking of doing a Techni-cord program on Saturday at 1:00pm at his residence at Cogger Lane , Norton. Techni-cord training is a leg strength and proper pushing with your leg exercise.... Can you reply to Peter if you are interested in attending. [email protected] If there isn’t enough interest he will cancel. Thanks Have a good weekend. Charles NacNeil -- See you at the rink! Hello Everybody The Hampton Community Center(the rink) has adjusted their rules regarding Spectators watching our skaters. The rink will allow 55 spectators, in the bleacher to watch. It is up to each user group on how to implement this. Hampton Speed Skating is approaching that number of skaters(55), so I think for the first couple of weeks, Hampton Speed Skating’s rule will be one spectator will be allowed per skater. I think that this is the fairest approach, for 2 reaso...ns, one is that we shouldn’t have to count the spectators and secondly we won’t have to turn anybody away from watching their skater because we have filled our limit. We will monitor this. The rink is allowing spectators into the rink, but it is specific as to where they can be. Spectators must use the top two rows of bleachers, not the lobby. By using only the 2 top rows, this will help maintain the 2m for the people that may be exiting the rink. If you plan to watch your skater you should dress according as it is getting cold in the rink area. While spectating all must use a mask and remain 1m apart when seated and 2 meters apart when moving in the facility. All other rules are the same, signing in, masks, and social distancing of 2 m. The second item is, I am still working on the online registration, so everyone will be able to pay their registration fee online. I will let everyone know when this is up and running. The third item is if your skater rented speed skates and you haven’t paid for them yet, you can do an e-transfer to [email protected] or you can pay me cheque or cash, when you see me in the rink. The rental is $80. If you choose to do an e-transfer can you use rental as the password. If you have any questions let me know. Hello Everybody The Hampton Speed Skating COVID Operational Plan has been approved by the Town of Hampton COVID Recovery Committee. This plan has to be approved and followed in order for Hampton Speed Skating to use the Rink. The Operational Plan is attached to this email. Please read this document before you register your skater(s) this year,as there are many changes from previous years in how we conduct ourselves in the rink. The biggest change being that one parent/guardi...an of 11 years old and younger skaters can enter the rink with their skater to get them ready, and when the skater is ready the parent/guardian must leave the facility. Skaters older than 11 are to enter the rink without parents/guardians. Tomorrow(Thursday) the registration link will be on the Hampton Speed Skating Website hamptonspeedskating.ca Please take note of the year(2020-21) as the previous years link is still there now. The previous one will be removed when the new one is posted. This year Speed Skate Canada has implemented an on-line registration system which will accept the registration fee. This system is not fully functional yet, so for now will register with Hampton using the form that we used for the past several years. When Speed Skate Canada's system is fully functional Hampton Speed Skate will let you know and you can officially register your skater, and pay the registration fees online. Please do not delay in registering your skater(s),as we may have to limit the groups numbers, as we have a maximum total number of skaters that are allowed on the ice( this includes coaches). If you are/have a previous skater and you chose not to join speed skating this, could you give a quick reply stating the skater is not returning? This will help us with our planning. Thank you for your patience. This has been and will be a very different year. If you have any questions, please let me know. Hello Everybody I hope everybody is doing fine, and enjoying the warm summer. With this warm spell it is hard to think off skating, but there is lots of planning and discussions to see how or if we can have a speed skating season. Speed Skate New Brunswick and the Hampton Community Center(the rink) both have been working on procedures to try to make a skating season possible.... I wanted to get a feel of how many would be planning on coming back to skating once all the protocols have all been put in place. I realize that some may not feel comfortable coming back. If all skaters return, or if only half of the skaters return the ice cost is still the same. It would be nice to have a rough idea of the numbers that are planning to return. Speaking with the Rink, there will be lots of changes from last year( capacities of locker rooms, and common area, no over lap of user groups(groups getting ready while other are still on ice) and lots more still being worked on. If you could give me a quick reply as to your intentions for the fall for your skater(s), that would be great. Just a quick line is all that is needed. Please don’t reply to ALL. If your not planning on returning due to Covid concerns, no problem, I total understand . If your skater is not planning on returning for other reason please just let me know. (changing sports, loss of interest, moved, Etc.) Thanks Stay Safe and enjoy the rest of your summer. Charles MacNeil Hampton Speed Skating

Hello everybody Unfortunately under the recommendation of the NB Minister of Health to suspend events with a mass gathering of 150 people or more, Hampton Speed Skating and Speed Skate New Brunswick have cancelled the meet that was to be this Saturday(March 14th) Any registered skaters will get a full refund, but it may take a little time as there are 106 refunds to process. This comes from SSNB. As of now I still expect to have our mini meet on Monday night as this is a much... smaller group of people from a localized area. This could change as the Dept. of Health could order a shut down of everything. I will email as I hear any changes. If the mini meet is a go, for those who are first timers, we divide all our skater into small groups and have several small races. at the end each skater gets a ribbon board with the ribbon for the placements from their races. It is a fun night FYI the skater that are normally finished at 5:45 and 6:00 they may run a little later than normal. If you have to go any your normal time no problem, just let us know Also skaters that normally start at 6:00 should be there for 5:15pm. All I can say is stay tuned. Sorry for the disappointment for everyone that was looking forward to the meet. If you have any questions, let me know See you at the rink! Hello Everybody I would like to bring to your attention that the "Pro Kids Battle of the Blades" fundraising hockey game between the Hampton RCMP and the Hampton Fire Dept. will be Feb. 22th at 7:00pm. This is a great fundraiser which helps children's sports programs in the Hampton area. Hampton Speed Skating has in the past been assisted by this program. The large board pads that we have, with "RCMP" on them had been paid for with the assistance of this program, and some Ham...pton Speed Skaters that participated in National Events( Canada East, Junior Nationals, Canada Games) received funding to help with the cost of attending these events. It would be nice if we could help this great fundraiser by attending the game. Thank you See you at the game! Thanks so much Charles MacNeil HSSC - President
