Who likes poinsetta's and Christmas planters? Wellington Jazz Academy is hosting their annual Christmas poinsettia and planter fundraiser again this year. Proceeds will go towards participation fees in virtual jazz festivals including the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the Vancouver Island Concert Band Festival, the West Coast Jazz Festival, and MusicFest Canada. Send an email to [email protected] to place your order before Nov 8th. Plants will be ready for pick up on Dec 4, 2020.

JazzFest Fans and Supporters! Now that October is here the Harbour City Jazz Society board and music directors from NDSS, Wellington and John Barsby schools would typically be planning another fabulous JazzFest performance at the Port Theatre. After 21 consecutive years, many wonderful professional artists stepping up to teach and perform with our students, over $150,000 raised to support high school music programs in Nanaimo, it has been difficult to imagine postponing this ...long standing event. However, as everyone knows, this year is a much different year and a work in progress! The consensus from the Society is that Jazzfest 2021 be postponed. Band parent and community support for JazzFest over the past 21 years has been key to our success and is greatly appreciated!! We will miss connecting with you all face to face at the Port Theatre in 2021 and look forward to when we can meet again! Sincerely, Harbour City Jazz Society Board of Directors
