As the first major snowfall of the year arrives, here are some tips and reminders to ensure the safety of yourself and your family members.
Well, the 2021 Polar Dip is in the books! It was a great success, and I want to thank everyone who took the plunge. I also extend my appreciation to those who s...upported the dippers. There was plenty of encouragement, cheering, and smiling faces. It was wonderful to see so many people getting mentally and physically prepared to take that cold dip in the ocean! I especially want to thank the Harbour Main-Chapel's Cove-Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department for your contribution. The blowing of the horn as people entered the water was an awesome touch! Thanks also to Fewer's Ambulance for being there. It was comforting to know that so many first responders were on hand in case anyone needed assistance. Also a big 'shout out' to the teenagers who participated. There were quite a few of you and your presence did not go unnoticed. Thank you so much. As of this writing, the Polar Dip has raised over $4700 for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Newfoundland and Labrador. This is truly phenomenal. Our fundraising goal was $2000 and we certainly blew past that amount! Thanks to everyone for their donations. The online campaign continues until January 8th, so there is still time for family and friends to show their support for your efforts. If participants have pictures, or would like to post their names, that would be great. It is unfortunate that all groups couldn't mingle and socialize afterwards, but your safety was top priority. Hopefully next year things will be back to normal. Once again, a big thank you to all! You should all be proud of yourselves for contributing to such a wonderful cause. I hope you've warmed up by now! I wish you good mental health and much happiness in '21. Stay safe, and we'll see you on the beach next year! Bob
Few members today transfer the gear over to the new pumper. Our new pumper is now in service.
Hi everyone, NTV will have a story on the Sunday Evening News (January 3rd at 6 PM) about the Polar Dip. Thanks!
