Rescue doesn’t discriminate. The dog on the left came into the world as a thoughtfully planned out breeding. She was raised with love and care. Shown at dog shows and quickly became a champion. Then her owner died. Family didn’t care for her or love her like her owner did. When she was surrendered to a rescue group she looked like the dog on the rightshe is the dog on the right. Plan ahead. What happens to your dogs if something happens to you? *Please note that this dog is currently NOT in our care. Her new owner wanted her story to be shared*

People often wonder why we, Havanese Rescue Canada, refer them to a breeder listing when we don’t have any rescue dogs in our care. Why do we do this? Because we care. We want you to get a dog from an ethical and reputable breeder. We don’t want you to fall victim to a puppy mill or other unscrupulous breeder and years of heartache that can be caused by a poorly-bred dog. Responsible breeders are not the reason why shelters are full. If you’re thinking of adding a Havanese to your home, DO YOUR RESEARCH. Not all breedersor rescues, for that matterare created equal.
