Unfortunately, we are not shocked by the reality of white supremacy and the disproportionate violence our Black and Indigenous communities continue to face, though these actions leave us o...Continue reading

https://havnrecords.bandcamp.com/ As you know BANDCAMP is waiving profit sharing today which means per album, we take more money today than usual. We would encourage you to move your money today because, ^^ thusly, it's worth more right now.... HAVNrecords' DNA is Black music. Without Black people we could not exist, obviously. Our catalogue is disastrously full of white performers playing jazz, hip hop, electronic, punk, outsider and other Black musics. We have taken and benefitted from Black people similar to how our ancestors did. In reflection, we wanted to let you know we'll be donating ALL revenues from album sales (digital and physical) to Black Lives Matter (https://blacklivesmatter.com/) and National Bail Out (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/freeblackmamas2020). We stand in solidarity and hope to encourage YOUR own support through our existing means (music catalogue and physical stock). We will continue to donate ALL revenues to these and anti-racist organizations IN PERPETUITY. Please let us know if you have any questions, Stay safe, *HAVNrecs

Stop by HAVN during Art Crawl tonight for '46 n Red Rock' an exhibition by Tyler Muzzin. Muzzin's work "responds to the ways that physical environments, and the events that happen within them, are measured, recorded and, in turn, represented and disseminated to the public. Video, projection, photographs, objects, and text present hypothetical moments when trivial data and statistics become form and image, often in humorously incongruous ways." tylermuzzin.net.

Stop by HAVN tonight for your last chance to see the Sonic Art Series exhibit: Resonant Framework by Sean Procyk!
HAVN’s artists are members and allies of Hamilton’s 2SLGBTQ+ community and we are saddened, dismayed, and angered by the despicable and violent attacks on attendees at Pride and the continued inadequate response of the police and city leadership. A series of bad decisions tone-deaf and lacking any real support, including vindictively incarcerating Pride defenders have only added fuel to this tense situation and have resulted in making this city feel unsafe for many of us.... We stand with Hamilton’s queer community and ask Mayor Fred Eisenberger, Hamilton City Council, and Hamilton Police Service to put an end to the ongoing tolerance of hate groups on city property. Demonstrate a commitment to all of Hamilton’s citizens by instituting anti-oppression training and education for everyone who serves publicly in our city. Recognize and acknowledge your accountability as your actions (and inactions) have helped create an unsafe climate in Hamilton for many of our residents. We urge you to ask for and listen to advice from Pride Hamilton, the LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee and other 2SLGBTQ+ folks who are willing to help - it is up to you to rebuild trust within our community, and to work towards making Hamilton a safe, welcoming and inclusive city.
