From Jacky Hillairet at our local legion: Just a reminder that this year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony is CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. We can’t have a parade and the cadets can’t participate. We are asking everyone to step outside their front door at 11 a.m. for the two minutes of silence and wave to your neighbours. The Legion would appreciate it if you could pass this message around to your family, friends and coworkers. The Legion will be open on Remembrance Day ...at 2:00 p.m. for members and guests with complimentary sandwiches throughout the day. We can only seat 51 people inside but we will have a closed in tent at the front of the Legion for anyone interested in sitting outside. Dress warmly. We still need a lot of volunteers to help with our POPPY CAMPAIGN. If you have a couple of hours to spare please come to the Legion and sign up on our volunteer list. Thank you. Great to see a tanning salon open or reopen. Though tanning facilities have been much maligned, sunbeds (tanning beds) have many healthful attributes. Here are ...a few of those attributes: Sunbeds produce vast quantities of vitamin D. People in Canada who use sunbeds have by far the highest levels of vitamin D in the country, especially in winter. A 20-year study demonstrated that both sun exposure and sunbed exposure reduced the risk of death; women who used sunbeds were 23% less likely to die of any cause than women who did not use them. Sunbed use is associated to lower breast-cancer risk. Sunbed use is associated with stronger bones. Sunbed use can cure psoriasis and eczema and dermatologists often recommend sunbeds. Sunbed use more than three times yearly is associated with a 40-50% reduced risk of endometrial cancer. More information: sunlightinstitute.org and read Dr. Marc Sorenson’s book, Embrace the Sun.

Sunlight prevents breast cancer beyond its ability to stimulate production of vitamin D.

Sun exposure and vitamin D may thwart sexual dysfunction. Soak up your share of non-burning sun.

#VitaminD is also known as the "sunshine vitamin" because it's synthesized in the skin following direct exposure to UVB rays. However, the UV index must be over... 3 to make vitamin D, which usually occurs midday between 10am and 2pm. So how can you be sure you're making vitamin D from the sun? One clue could be your shadow! Read our latest post for easy ways to tell if you're making vitamin D from sun exposure. https://buff.ly/3b5AbqX See more

We're seeing more and more evidence in the role of vitamin D reducing the risk of influenza and COVID-19 infection and death, which is why it's more important t...han ever to test your vitamin D levels to see if you're deficient. Read the recent paper by GrassrootsHealth founder and director Carole Baggerly and GrassrootsHealth Scientists Panel member Dr. William B. Grant on how vitamin D can reduce the risk of these diseases: https://www.grassrootshealth.net/vitamin-d-supplements-red/ See more

FYI, Irish Study finds Vitamin D can build coronavirus resistance "Vitamin D is produced in the skin by exposing the body to just 10-15 minutes per day of sun. In Ireland, vitamin D can only be made between late March and early September."
