Happy Adoption News! So it's been a few months since I brought Makenzie home, and she's growing up so nicely and happily. She just turned 8 months old back on the 15th of this month. She's been an amazing addition to my home and has been more than just a cat, but a support animal. As I continue to recover from my surgeries from last year. Thank you so much for bringing her into my life. She's doing well, happy, and content. All the best!... Sincerely, Benjamin and Makenzie! #hbspca #sheltercats

Happy Adoption News! I am finally getting around to sending you some pictures and an update on Jack (formerly Tricksley) who I adopted in early October. Jack settled into the house and became friends with my tabby cat Simon very quickly. He has a really sweet personality and is very playful (my tube of chapstick is one of his favourite toys). Jack loves to look out the front window - one day when the windows were being cleaned he had fun playing with the window washer's squ...eegee! And he loves cuddling up to his cat brother Simon for a nap. Jack brings a smile to my face everyday - I am so grateful to have adopted him. Thank you for all of your support with the adoption process and the wonderful work you do to help so many animals find homes. Marilyn #hbspca #sheltercats

Please read full post before commenting. These adorable puppies are not yet ready for adoption, we anticipate that they will be old enough to go to their forever homes in December. Please do not call or email in regard to adoption until they have been posted on our website here: https://hbspca.com/adopt/view-dogs/ Due to reduced staff we will not be able to respond to enquiries until they are ready for adoption. ... With the overwhelming response about our last litter of puppies we recommend checking the website each day to ensure that you don't miss them. Once the puppies are posted please follow our NO CONTACT process outlined here: https://hbspca.com/adopt/adoption-information/ We are excited to share that 3 adorable puppies came into care this week! We had so much fun playing the name game with our last litter of pups that once again we are looking to you to help us name them. Happy Adoption News! Hello, My new mom is typing this for me. My name is Rita, and I was in your care in January. My new family adopted me in mid January and I wanted to give you an update. ... I wanted to thank you for everything you did for me while I was with you. I was pretty scared (especially as an elderly cat), but you knew that I was the purrrfect addition to the Baglole family. I have a fur sister. She is a 13 year old dog. She is very big. She really didn’t like me at first, and to be honest, I didn’t like her either. What a weird looking cat!! And, impolite...that funny looking thing likes to sniff my butt. How rude!! It’s okay though, I taught her who’s boss pretty fast. I live in a nice warm house with lots of cozy places to nap. Sometimes, my fur sister and I nap together on the couch. Sometimes we play fight, sometimes we make plans together on how to sneak food off the counter. I tell the funny looking cat where the food is, she gets it and then we eat our Ill-gotten gains together. I get lots of love and cuddles (which I really like) and have lots of cool toys. I am a very happy girl, and my new family loves me. Thank you SPCA staff and volunteers for taking such good care of me and for letting my new family bring me home to love me. Here’s me having a nap on the couch by the fireplace on this chilly day.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Leadership Transition at the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA Hamilton, ON (Monday, November 23, 2020) The Board of Directors of the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA (HBSPCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Barlow as incoming President and CEO effective November 30, 2020.... Melanie succeeds Marion Emo who will be leaving her role at the end of November following a remarkable eight-year tenure of building partnerships to support improved access to care and rehoming for animals at risk in our community. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome Melanie Barlow as the incoming CEO at the HBSPCA on November 30, says Kim Ciavarella, Chair. Melanie’s knowledge of the community we serve, her understanding of vulnerable populations and her program leadership will support HBSPCA’s service to community well into the future. At the same time, we say good-bye to Marion Emo who has led our organization through extraordinary changes in the animal welfare sector locally, provincially, and nationally. Marion’s steadfast leadership has truly reflected the principle of being in service to community. Melanie and Marion will be working closely together over the next while to ensure a smooth transition. Both are committed to engaging staff and stakeholders during leadership change and sustaining service continuity every day. Melanie was born and raised in Burlington and has been a Hamilton resident for twenty-three years. With experience in the corporate, education and non-profit sectors her most recent role was as Executive Director at Ancaster Community Services, a local charitable and social services organization. Melanie is a proud owner of an adorable Brussels Griffon. I am thrilled to be joining the HBSPCA and to be a part of a community-minded team of staff, volunteers and Board Members. The support that the HBSPCA receives from donors is a testament to the incredible work that is done to support pets and their people and advance a humane community. The HBSPCA currently has an active staff of 22 and an annual operating budget of $2.3M. Its Companion Animal Hospital on site at 245 Dartnall Road served more than 6,000 animals last year. For information contact Marion Emo. CEO. 905-574-7722 ext. 310. The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA is a donor based charitable and non-profit animal welfare organization. To some, the number 13 is unlucky. And even more so when it falls on a Friday. This past Friday, the 13th, one of our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) colony caregivers was having a rough day. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, she had to make an unexpected, and costly purchase.... Her day was following the myth that Friday the 13th can be considered unlucky. But, then she got a call from Diane at the #HBSPCA and her luck turned around. She was the Fall Lottery Daily Winner and won $1,000! Congratulations, Grace! Although the Fall Lottery is sold out, you can make sure you’re on our list to receive an invite to purchase tickets for the Spring Lottery by emailing [email protected] Please include your full name, mailing address and phone number.
