Happy Halloween. This is our favorite time of the year as we get to dress up and be silly. The music and lyrics were put together by Taylor Carss and Rebecca Giffen our amazingly talented bathers.

Meet Lucy. She is a Shih Tzu mix that has suffered most of her life from allergies and major eye infections. She has been on meds and ointments forever with little or no help over the years. Her mom decided to give this a shot because she said she has nothing to loose at this point. Well, after 4 baths, this is her now! Her mom is so happy and I know Lucy is too. From this point on, she will be getting a TC Bath with every groom and in between when necessary. Thanks Elena Jones. Part of the Thera-Clean army. For sharing your sucess story.

Any advice for owners of nervous or anxious dogs? "Start early. Introduce your dog to grooming when they are a puppy," Brigit says. We offer a 'Puppy’s First Groom'. This is for puppies between 14 weeks and six months; and it includes a brush out, a wash and fluff-dry, and a trim around the face, bum and paws. This allows the pup to get used to the grooming environment (including noises and smells). It also allows them to meet the groomer and build up trust, so when they come... in for their big groom they know the groomer and know how the salon works. If you have an older dog that is nervous, I would recommend a meet-and-greet with the groomer. Again, I think it is important for the dog to build trust with the groomer. I would suggest the owner pops in with the dog to meet the groomer and allow the dog to check out the place.

Here is a question we get every so often from new clients. And it is a very good one. Is there anything you'd like us to do ahead of our dog's appointment? 1) "Please take some time to brush and comb your dog and get them use to being brushed regularly", Brigit says. "If your dog comes in, with matting in their coat, we may not be able to give them the haircut that you want, and even if we can, matt removal through combing is very uncomfortable for your dog, shaving the hair... off is not painful. We strive to make sure that your dog always has an enjoyable experience when they visit us". If you need advice we can help with tool selection and even a demo on how to best work with your dogs coat. 2) "I would also recommend taking your dog for a walk before being groomed. This will tire them out and allow them to relieve themselves. You may also want to feed them after their grooming appointment". "If we have to clean up after a poop/pee accident, we often have to re bath and dry them, so the appointment will take longer and therefore cost more".
