Another Halloween has come and gone but today is National Brush Day! It’s the perfect time to give your kids a new toothbrush and talk about the importance of c...aring for their teeth and battling sugar bugs. Here are some post Halloween tricks from Canadian dental hygienists: Choose sugar-free candy and chewing gum or dark chocolate over toffees, lollipops or other hard treats. The less time that sugar is in contact with the teeth, the better. Set a daily limit on treats and remind children to brush their teeth before eating candy. Encourage children to drink a glass of water to rinse away the sugar after eating if brushing beforehand is not an option. UPDATE ON REOPENING Healthy Smiles Dental Hygiene is booking for mobile visits, long term care homes, special care homes, and personal residences, for the third week in June. Unfortunately, at this time the facility my office is located in is still under restrictions for the public. This means that I am not able to resume appointments for clients outside of the facility just yet. Rest assured, I have implemented all reopening policies and procedures now required by our licens...ing body and I eagerly await the lift on imposed restrictions. As with all dental hygiene appointments, both within private dental offices and independent dental hygiene clinics, during the first phase of reopening dental hygienists are to abide by the restriction of no aerosol producing procedures. This means your appointments will be a bit different and should be discussed with you prior.
