Repost from @expectful - The door of life ... This is how I call the scar of my cesarean section. The two people I love most in this world, my children, have come out of it. Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas by birth, by title and to be. Your love and effort is magic in this world

It is not uncommon for even the most prepared, seasoned and fearless warrior mamas to have a moment of self doubt as the weeks of pregnancy count down. The unknown of what is ahead can bring forward a multitude of thoughts and feelings, some that serve us in a positive way and some that plant seeds of doubt or fear. Know that you are capable and already possess all the required parts and abilities needed to bring your baby earthside, however that may unfold. Birthing your bab...y is not exclusively a physical endeavour but requires your heart and head to navigate, feel and adapt to what comes your way. Your birth partner, Doula and medical care team are there to prepare, support and assist you as your birthing experience unfolds but they are not you. You do not need to be empowered to birth your baby as this power already exists within you. #thepowerwithin #goddess #warrior #nofear #birthaffirmations #birth #birthwithoutfear #pregnancy #labour #naturalbirth #homebirth #hospitalbirth #cesareanbirth #onward #breathe #youcan #motherhood #strength #love #endurance #strength #power #baby #qotd #healthymind #doula #doulalove #birthpartner #doulasupportedbirth #birthrevolution #halton #burlington #oakville #hamilton #milton

The only way out is through...this mantra so perfectly fits the journey of bringing your baby earthside and inevitably finds its way into the conversation I have with all the emergent mums I work with. In labour and birth, it is impossible to pinpoint what lies ahead, even for second (or more) time mothers and athough we cannot plan for exactly what is ahead, we do know that the only way to the squishy little being we long to meet is by moving forward and through. when it hu...rts, we move through when it takes an unexpected turn, we move through when it stalls, we move through when we feel joy, we move through when the hours pass, we move through when it feels like we cannot handle another surge, we move through we move through. You can and you will. #mantra #motivation #birthaffirmations #birth #birthwithoutfear #goddess #warrior #mama #pregnancy #labour #naturalbirth #homebirth #hospitalbirth #cesareanbirth #onward #breathe #youcan #motherhood #strength #love #endurance #power #baby #qotd #healthymind #doula #doulalove #birthpartner #doulasupportedbirth #birthrevolution #halton #burlington #oakville #hamilton #milton

From my family to yours, we wish you Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year!

The postpartum period can be a very sensitive time for new moms. It is a time of love, challenges, new beginnings, physical, mental and emotional changes, shifts in the family dynamic and all around transition. Although we wish every womans postpartum could be filled with hours of sweet smelling, snuggly and sleeping babys' (and some are!) We know that it is not always the reality. As an outsider to the new mothers newly created post pregnancy, new baby bubble know that your... words can have a significant impact on this sensitive time. For a mom struggling to supply her baby with enough breastmilk, asking about breastfeeding may spark or reinforce feelings of guilt and inadequacy For a mom whose baby struggles to sleep, asking how well they are sleeping or if they are sleeping through the night may increase anxiety around what is usually completly normal challenges and transitions in a healthy baby's sleep development and cause her to feel as if she may be to blame for the sleep struggles For a mom who feels so tired/busy/overwhelmed and tapped out asking if they are eating a well balanced diet of healthy foods may cause her to feel shame or guilt. Having a baby is a HUGE physical feat and a woman should never feel rushed back into exercise. Her body is pure magic and should be embraced and celebrated as is. ***disclaimer: of course if you are very close to a new mom and she has opened up to you about any of these areas it is important to engage in the conversation and connect with her. Follow her lead and ensure your words are supportive and come from a place of caring*** #healthymom
