Exercising my arms in a unique way haha! Anything to fit in an arm workout! What are you doing today to keep yourself healthy and fit? Besides my coffee grinder arm workout hee hee, I took my boy Nelson out for a 4km walk this morning! Walking is so good for the body and mind! Also, don't forget to tune in at 10am tomorrow for another LIVE FB workout with your favourite kick ass personal trainer! Stay well folks!

Hello friends! Trainer Kate touching base with you on this rainy Monday morning. I hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day weekend! Today, I will not be hosting a LIVE workout via Facebook. I will explain. For weeks I have been enouraging everyone to 'keep on moving' through the uncertain times of this COVID 19 pandemic. But for weeks and weeks now too, I have told everyone to listen to their body, and if something does not feel right, stop doing it (or modify the movement ...or activity). Well folks, today this girl, your fearless leader, is not feeling right. I am struggling with a migraine which was caused by lack of sleep due to the anxiety attacks I have experienced over the course of the past few days. I am feeling much better than I did yesterday, which was the worst day in a long time for me emotionally, but I need to take care of ME today so that I can get back to feeling OKAY sooner. All of us are going through some stressful times right now. I urge you all to stay strong physically and emotionally but to know that it is okay to let your mind and body rest when they need to. Today I am letting my mind rest. That being said, I encourage you to stay active without me today. Go take a walk. Or maybe re-watch one of my previous Keep on Moving with Kate LIVE videos and do that instead. I will be back at it on Wednesday morning - promise! 10am, right here! Have a good Monday folks. There is so much out there in cyber space, that sometimes it is hard to know w...hat is true, and what is not. If you want to become 'more fit', you have to work for it. For those who worked out with me virtually this morning via FB LIVE, please make sure you do some STRETCHING exercises throughout your day to help alleviate any stiffness and/or soreness. I am a starting to feel my upper back and hamstring muscles stiffen up, so took 2 advil and am currently doing some stretching to help loosen myself up a little. I suggest you do the same. I am a person who feels immediate responses to working out, so know how to manage the discomfort as soon as I start feeling the 'warning' signs. Other people may start feeling the after effects within a 24-72hour period. Give your body adequate rest but don't sit too much either! Sitting promotes stiffness! Might be a good time to take a walk haha! Keep on moving! Good workout today peeps! Let's do it again on Friday, shall we!?!

However, due to the COVID-19 health crisis, my 'day job' is on a temporary hiatus (as I cannot go into any retirement residence to teach classes due to lockdowns and outbreaks). Perhaps some of you have been to one of Lifemark's physiotherapy clinics, or even used their ...resources while in rehab at local hospitals (such as Shaver). They are a topnotch health care provider/company, with an excellent array of services. They have recently added virtual services to their roster, including (but not limited to) physiotherapy and occupational therapy, If you are stuck at home due to the pandemic, and need some help with either of these therapies, it might be worth checking out the link above and connecting with the Lifemark team to help you with your health care needs. This pandemic has changed the way we are living our lives folks. But we are adaptable creatures, and can adjust to new situations and environments when needed. Connecting virtually is slowly becoming the 'new' normal. I started training clients almost 2 years ago, and at first, was not too keen doing it. However, now, I actually prefer working with clients in this manner because it has made people more accountable, with less excuses NOT to connect. There is NO travel time required, and people do not need to drive anywhere (they can workout in the comfort of their own home or office), training virtually costs LESS than 'in person' training, and in my situation, people invest MORE in their own personal needs because they ARE at home, people save on gym memberships (which most end up not using anyway, while the gyms get richer taking the monthly payments!), the list is endless! (Examples: a set of light dumbbells, campbells soup cans, or other creative lightly weighted objects that can be easily held in the hands). P.s. it might be time to invest in some cheap hand weights ;-)

Hi everyone! First off, thank you for participating in my weekly plank challenge(s)! Some of you know how much I love to torture people ! Tomorrow (Good Friday) is the last day of the Plank Challenge Part 2! We will do a 3 minute plank, incorporating the various planks we have done to this point. It will be fun, I promise!! Next Mon - Fri, will be a week filled with mini whole body workouts! Each day, the workout will be about 10-20 minutes in length. (Maybe slightly more ...if I gab too much haha). If you have some light dumbbells kicking around, have them handy. We may or may not use them daily, but just have them ready as a just' in case. If you don't have any dumbbells, some simple household items make good substitutes, such as water bottles filled with water (make sure the lids are on tight), campbells soup cans, used laundry soap jugs filled with water, etc. Get creative!
