Thankful for this The fresh air, the good company, and the privilege to be able to have a camera in my hand - this is what makes it all a little more worthwhile.

Can you stop two magnets from touching? Can you interfere with a pull so strong that even the deepest, innermost microscopic atoms are mindlessly reaching out for each other? A fate that was written into their biological makeup. A star crossed destiny that can be traced back light years before their existence.... Can you fight it? Can you fight what is scientifically meant to be? I think even if you held them apart, their paths would cross eventually and they would find themselves in a hopeless embrace, pressed against each other... Just as the universe had predicted all along.

credit: Finnley, age 4 I put several thousand dollars in the hands of a four year old, and let her snap pictures today. Naturally she has an eye for it. Her little hands reaching around to press the shutter button, her little eyes staring through the viewfinder and making sure her subject was lined up and in focus. She kept saying things like, Mom! You’re doing so great! Ok now smile! Mom, you look so beautiful! And my heart literally exploded with pride.... Sharing my camera with her and watching her become so passionate about her art, it made me realize why I do this; why I take pictures. To bring joy to others. Because your joy, is mine alike. I snapped a few of my pyjama wearing photographer post shoot

Day... I don’t even know anymore... in lockdown. Finn has very quickly realized that I am not four. I am an imposter in her magical play world. She is desperate for connection with other children. Her older siblings will play but just long enough to let me sip my cold coffee. I long for connection, too. Almost as much as I long for some solitude. It’s a fine line between the two - needing humans and also needing some peace and quiet away from the kids. I miss taking pictures.... I miss laughing with you all. I miss family dinners and campfires with everyone carelessly sitting next to each other. I miss smiling at people in the grocery store, instead of wondering if they see the sparkle in my eye as we pass in the aisle. I miss hugs and handshakes and high-fives. I miss coffee dates and catch-ups. I miss the normalcy of the mundane. I miss living outside of these four walls. Really hoping you’re all doing well. I miss your faces! I know this has been an incredibly hard time for everyone, so please know I am thinking of you. I miss you. You’ve got this.
