I knew this as a yoga teacher, before completing my MSW. Yoga and its 8 limbs, including Yogic breathing, can be clinically applied to soothe the nervous system for self-regulation from hyperarousal. The benefits for treating trauma, anxiousness and other issues are remarkable. I teach mindful yoga and yoga for trauma. Anecdotally I can say that, not only are they complimentary to staged trauma therapy, but that they can be at minimum, part of the interventions The mind gut-connection has been known for 5000+ years in Ayuveda.
