My friend Kate (who’s a mental health therapist for moms) is hosting a totally FREE online workshop where she’s sharing exactly how you can deal with anxiety, overwhelm + feeling totally depleted (even when your kids are literally always around!). So if self-care feels like an impossible task these days or you can’t seem to feel calm and grounded, then you’re going to want to sign up. She’ll tell you exactly how to manage overwhelm and anxiety in a way that’s actually doable for moms with little kids! Save your seat in the workshop here: https://kateborsato.lpages.co/mom-anxiety-workshop-ah/

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. My husband was bold enough to sit down with me a few weeks ago and talk about the loss of our daughter, Autumn. I’ll be lighting a candle tonight for ALL the babies who have touched my life who are no longer here ... Link in comments to watch the full video, my husband gets super candid.

The very first birth I ever attended in my entire life as a doula was a HypnoBirth. It was so peaceful, and zen, and mom was so in the zone listening to the HypnoBirthing tracks and breathing and what looked like just relaxing in the birth tub, that none of us - not me, her husband, or her two midwives - even realized that she was pushing and her baby was coming. I barely had time to grab my camera to capture the moment that she pulled her daughter up out of the water.... For that matter, the midwives barely had time to don their gloves and help catch their little girl. I had literally just done my HypnoBirthing Support Practitioner certification the weekend prior to this birth, so I was well versed already in how HypnoBirthing can change the whole atmosphere of a birth space.but seeing it firsthand was something else. I’m not suggesting that everyone should do HypnoBirthing because it’s NOT for everyone, but if you’re interested in learning some of the breathing techniques that go along with a HypnoBirth, check out today’s video because I’m taking you through them all. https://youtu.be/cbUWebRhMm4

We’re pretty lucky here in Canada that many of us have the option of birthing at home as well as at the hospital. Some of us also have the option of birthing at a birth centre, but only if you live near one In Ontario there are only 3 birth centres, plus the Alongside Midwifery Unit at Markham-StouffvilleOntario is HUGE (I mean, you could literally fit like 10 Jamaicas into 1 Ontario) so for the majority of Ontarians a birth centre is not an option. Which is kinda why I’m ...focusing on the difference between home and hospital birth today. Especially with the pandemic, many more people have been considering home birth to get around some of the restrictions happening in hospitals (like the 1 support person rule that many hospitals still have, which excludes us doulas unless we’re considered part of the health care team.which in most cases, we’re not). Check it out if you’ve been considering a home birth, and drop any questions in the comments https://youtu.be/Q8hCuExdspM
