In the month of March, 2019 Dropbox decided to make the free accounts unusable by setting a limit of three devices on an account. This means that if you have a computer, laptop, phone and tablet, that is too much. This is a re-edit of the video from when Help-My-Tech was a finalist in the Chamber of Commerce Serving Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Business Achievement Awards earlier this year. I installed a Ring Video Doorbell to let me talk to people at the door (eg delivery people), from anywhere. It also chimes my phone if someone comes to the door without ringing. Recording HD video if the doorbell OR if motion is detected, YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT IT RECORDED. Warning: This video is scary. Canada Post has been getting worse at security. I do concierge shopping for clients and occasionally I have products shipped to me so I can set them up before taking them to t...he client. I used to be able to count on Canada Post to ring the doorbell to be certain I am home or to deliver the package to the nearest post office if there was nobody home (or it would not fit in the drop box).

Serendipity. Help-My-Tech was recently selected as a finalist in the Douglas College Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. They are shooting a promotional video this week and asked for background video of me working with a client. How could I get someone to film a service call on a long weekend with such short notice? Meanwhile, across town...... Regular client and friend Vicki McLeod was in despair. Her network went down on the Sunday of a long weekend. How long would she need to wait for service? She took a long shot and sent me an email. I immediately called her up and said I would come over right away and not charge for the call if I could film it for the award video. Win-win all around and her despair turned to a happy-dance!

If you noticed my twitter post about eM Client you might wonder why I am repeating a promotion. I have no affiliate relationship with them and make no money from them (other than the fact that I solve peoples email, and syncing problems for a fee). As it turns out I have been in the process of writing a blog post (for http://TechPotato.ca) about how dangerous it is to use your ISP (e.g. Shaw) email when travelling. EM Client is the ONLY program I have found that allows you to safely use Shaw email when travelling. It is my go-to program to solve peoples email, calendar and contact syncing problems in a mixed-service environment (with Windows PCs), and mixed environments are what Help-My-Tech is all about.

This is just so telling about one way technology has changed our lives. When tech meets chaos theory...

You might think that a business that provides "service, set-up, and training for PCs, Macs, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and all of the tech that connects them and to them" seems a strange fit for a country fair, but last years event was the launch of the Help-My-Tech.ca brand and it was a very successful event.
