Sorry for the late post but happy to announce that WE ARE FINALLY HOME! Tyler was released from the hospital around 7pm and we made it back to Chatham by 9:30. The car ride was fairly uncomfortable for Tyler but he didn't complain, not once. We dropped off his prescription to be filled and then he requested a Vanilla Milkshake so of course I had to deliver. The surgeon suggested that Tyler wears his neckbrace for the next week or so or until he feels comfortable going about daily activities without it, and in about 10 days he will have to have the staples removed from the area. We will have to head back to Hamilton in 6-8 weeks for a follow-up appointment with his surgeon. Thank you to everyone for the kind words, we are so happy to have him home in time for Christmas to be with us and our son Nash. Merry Christmas Xo Carly Hendricks

Hey there, we are still hanging out at the hospital, Tyler is doing very well. This morning after breakfast the physiotherapist came around to help him out of bed and to walk the halls and do a set of stairs on his own, which he accomplished with no problem. He still has limited strength and pain in his left arm as well as in his neck area. The physiotherapist has cleared Tyler but we are currently waiting to see about having his drainage tube removed which is connected to th...e incision spot to drain the fluids into a resevoir. The level of fluid has to be below a certain measurement in order for it to be removed. Tyler's surgeon visited him just after dinner to check in and see how he was doing. Moving forward, in order to go home tomorrow the drainage tube has to be removed and Tyler's pain tolerance has be under control before he will be released. Again the staff at Hamilton General have been amazing throughout our stay especially during this time of year when nurses and doctors don't necessarily get to take a Christmas break. They have decorated the halls and some of the rooms, and some of the staff have dressed up in Christmas attire to bring as much cheer and joy to the patients as best as they can. Xo Carly Hendricks

Good evening, it was a long afternoon but happy to announce that Tyler is out of surgery and doing very well. His surgery finished up at around 2:30 and I had a visit from his surgeon shortly after who said everything went as planned without complications. Tyler was in recovery for about an hour before they called me to meet him in his room where he expressed to me that he was in much better condition than his previous surgery. He is able to swallow and doesn't have the painfully sore throat like he did last time but is experiencing some pain and discomfort in the surgery location itself which is to be expected. Again, I will update everyone as Tyler progresses. Xo Carly Hendricks

Good morning! Tyler and I headed to Hamilton last night and had a nice dinner out together before settling in for the night. We checked into the hospital at 9am this morning with his surgery being scheduled for 11:20am. Nurses, doctors and anaesthetiologists all made their rounds dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's in regards to Tyler's surgery which makes us feel very comfortable with everything. They proceeded to take Tyler down at around 11:30am and I am currently... in the waiting room listening for updates from the liaison nurse as they become available. His surgery is estimated at 2-2.5 hrs with recovery at at least an hour maybe more depending on when he wakes from the anaesthesia. I will update back here once I have updated family. Thank you everyone for the kind words and messages last night and this morning. Xo Carly Hendricks
