While the Higgins Block looks to add office space to its second and third floors, some may remember the basement of this building serving a very different purpose, once upon a time. Spanky's Pub was a downtown hotspot, opened in the mid-80's. It even holds a Guinness World Record for"Longest Continuous Live Music Event" when it hosted festivities for the ECMAs in 1997. Who has a favourite Spanky's memory?

These wooden beams were original to the 1901 construction of the building. We had replace them with steal beams (so the building would be safe!) but don't worry we have saved them and we will find a way to repurpose them! #restoration #downtownmoncton #construction #historical

DID YOU KNOW? Lester Higgins, by the time of his death, owned several blocks of Downtown Moncton. A notable example is the Empire Block, situated next to the Théâtre Capitol Theatre. It currently houses two popular Downtown stops - Stile Fashion Accessories - 801 Main St. and My Home Mercantile!
