LAST GERI CASE YA'LL!! Mr. Freed has come to see you at your endocrinology clinic for his annual visit. He is a 69 year old male with a history of DLP, HTN, COPD, hypothyroidism and DM2. To date his conditions have been well controlled. He has no complaints. During his annual visit, you check for any signs of DM complications. You notice mild non proliferative diabetic retinopathy on fundoscopy, for which he is followed by an ophthalmologist. You inspect his lower extremitie...s and assess sensation, and everything is normal. The remainder of your physical exam is normal as well. You ask him for a urine sample to check for microalbuminuria to monitor for the development of nephropathy. You advise him you will call him with the results in a few days. When you do the urinalysis, his urine is positive for leukocyte esterase and nitrites. What should be your course of action? Options will be posted in the comments section. Please like and/or comment on which you think is best. Answer will be posted tomorrow. Stay tuned for cases from different specialties in the future :) Have a great weekend!
