It really is this simple. It doesn't take much effort to find numbers for local farms and once you talk with a farmer, he/she will know the numbers for the loc...al butchers. By buying the steer directly from the farmer and by paying the processing fees to the butcher, you cut out all the middlemen and don't have the additional costs of USDA certification, etc... You'll end up with better quality meat and help local businesses during these difficult times..

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Hilltop Meats is operating as usual during the COVID-19 Pandemic. With that being said we just wanted to let you all know that we are following the recommendations of the Public Health Departments we have implemented the following practices in order to keep our employees and customers safe and healthy:... 1. All employees will be using and changing gloves during processing. Something we have always done but are reiterating to all employees. 2. All surfaces in the production area will continue to be sanitized regularly. 3. Hand washing with soap will continue. 4. We prefer to receive payments via E-Transfer when possible to help reduce the amount of cash being handled. Cheques will be accepted also. 4. We will NOT be allowing entry of visitors/customers into the shop during production. All visitors need to contact Christie at 204-232-5623 or the Shop at 751-3533 before coming to the shop. 5. We are asking all customers to respect safe distances between themselves and our employees. 6. Pickups must be scheduled as to reduce contact with other customers or employees. We need as a community to take all Public Health warnings seriously in order to prevent the worst case scenarios from happening. We will be continually monitoring the situation and will have updates as things change for us here at Hilltop Meats.
